Where the hell did Flobber go?

Shangal said:the class average was 81%, that's insane. Does anyone in our class have a life? I guess this was the wrong class to be in med school with. I'll do anything for a class with an average in the 60s, just once!
I wonder how next year's class is going to perform on this anatomy exam. If they get an average in the 60s, I am going to modify and be in their class.
drtt2bear said:where did you get this info of avg being 81
JonD-08 said:What did you guys think the email Frank just sent?
I thought it was pretty spot on.
fun8stuff said:any of u guys remember what your anatomy or histo averages were last year?
oldjeeps said:I highly doubt that any of us remember what those scores were. But my OCD was acting up at this point last year and I tapped that info into my PDA (had to find some use for that waste of $).
Stats for the first round of exams for the Class for 2008 were: (% average +/- Stand. Dev.)
Gross Practical: 81.06 +/- 7.17
Gross written: 72.64 +/- 5.24
Histology: 82.08 +/- 6.91
If any has this recorded differently please feel free to correct me.
Flobber said:OK, it seems that the 2nd years are about one poor faculty decision away from all-out mutiny. This is getting to be really amusing, with students openly calling out our professors, administration, and student reps by email. Beware the wrath of disgruntled med students!
524 eval questions... ri-goddamn-diculous.
JonD-08 said:I wrote to Jackson just now, got an "out of office" auto-reply - think he turned that on just because he got flooded with MS2 emails? That would amuse me greatly.
I'm really glad our class is taking action on this. We're taught to be all PC, smiles-and-handshakes... it's nice to see the gloves come off.
MD'05 said:Glad to see that Dr. J is still creating class chaos. What a doofus.
oldjeeps said:1. How long has he been "creating class chaos"?
2. What did he try to pull with/on your class?
Shangal said:Yeah, jackson is getting on everyone's nerves. Hopefully he can't hurt that guy. I mean all he wanted to do is help the rest of the class, he wasn't trying to get any financial gain out of this. He took it way out of proportion in my opinion.
Jackson needs to get fired! He is making life more difficult for us for some reason and I think he's enjoying it. I mean is't he supposed to help us out, what the hell is his problem.
How can we stop this maddness. He is a horrible horrible person.
JonD-08 said:So this means one of two things:
1) The faculty is on our listserv, or
2) Somebody in our class reported it.
Given that the faculty probably doesn't want to read about Kaplan book sales and Project H and whatnot... and the students who emailed about how "unprofessional" it was to skip Clin Med...
I'm guessing the latter.
Sucks that we have no power now except course evaluations. But I guess it's a good thing to remember when we're doctors and Wayne sends us those donation envelopes in the mail...

fun8stuff said:i emailed jackson after he informed us that half of us would have to complete BLS training 2 days before our exam. all i said was that it might be more fair if it was moved to after the exam. his response was, "...i'm sorry that you feel the BLS training is being forced upon you. you will have one day scheduled to study for the exam. one day should be more than sufficient to study." that's the last time i will ever email him. he could have just said it couldnt be moved... but what the heck?
dancinjenn said:Yeah, you're not going to get any love on a request like that. As long as they give you a dedicated 4 hour study block...that's it. You are not going to get any more than that. Besides you shouldn't have to cram for 2 whole days just to pass the exams...that is just bad scheduling on your part. I mean come on, how hard is CPR? I'm sure that it isn't going to take all day. You'll probably have to wait around to get your cert. and in that time you can always be studying from something. I mean you have lectures usually two days before a test, on information FOR the test. Why would they reschedule CPR?
Shangal said:I don't remember getting a CPR certificate last year or taking a BLS test last year. What does BLS stand for and what does it quiz on?
Oh yeah, and I disagree with dancinjen, an extra 4 hour study block is not enough to get a good grade. This stuff is hard to remember, and most of us don't have photographic memory and need more time to study this stuff.

fun8stuff said:Basic Life Support Training. That is all I know- that, and it takes up a little more than half a day. I don't even know if I have to take it that day or not- half the class will have to complete the certification on that day, 2 days before the exam. I just thought it would be unfair to those who had to give up that study time, while half the class could use that time for studying. But, I was mostly just wondering what planet he was from- how could he think med students only study a day for a test?
i just thought i would bitch about him since everyone else was![]()
artemis said:hold up a sec, did I miss something? What is this BLS thing you guys are all talking about and when do we have to do it and who exactly has to do it? This is the first I've heard of this 😕
And if it is CPR, what happens if we are already certified?

pschmom1 said:Hi everyone, I just noticed this tread tonight and have been reading for a while. Just a few questions I guess. I plan to apply to Wayne State SOM in 2 years. I was just wondering from your experiences if it's hard to get in? What are the requirements that really count? I also hear ya talking about Scott Hall, is that a different building than the one behind DRH? That's the only part of Wayne State I have seen. I guess any info would be helpful. Also, I plan to specialize in Psych and I don't find much info on hospitals in the are w/a psych floor. Any help there?
By the way, happy B-day to a fellow virgo (dancinjenn) 🙂

it is just for class of 2009.lj1230 said:What is this about the BLS? I never got an e-mail about it...... when is this going on? Is it just for 2009 or is it 2008 too?
Thanks... sorry so many questions!
JonD-08 said:Re: today's exam ... a dude in our class said "I could have got a 50 or a 90 on that exam" ... I feel the same way.
JonD-08 said:I had some issues with the last two exams, but I thought this one was fair. There were some silly gimme questions on it too ("which of these instruments needs to be sterilized", "when should you wash your hands")
JonD-08 said:ClinMed, exam 4, and lab exam all in the same week... no time for procrastination this time around
