Hi all,

So I got jaw surgery about a month and a half ago and have mostly recovered. I’ve got a couple interviews coming up in the next few weeks and had a few nitpicky questions:

1) should I bring up my recovery during my interview? Like I said I’m mostly back to normal but I can kinda sound like I’m clenching my teeth when I talk and I don’t want that to be interpreted as me being nervous.

2) will I have a chance after lunch to go to a bathroom and make sure I don’t have anything in my teeth/where I’m numb?

Thanks!

Yeah, I would tell them about it.

Would you bring it up at the beginning of the interview or try to casually bring it up? Like in a ‘what I’ve been up to’ kind of way?

I would literally just tell them "i apologize if it sounds like I'm speaking through gritted teeth, I had jaw surgery a few months ago and I am still slightly feeling the effects"

1) Let them know during introductions. "Hi Dr. X, I'm very excited to be here, also I apologize in advance if I sound like..."
2) You can go to the bathroom during/after lunch. It's not meant to be a prison. Schools are also on their best behavior .
