Weird Pre-Meds. What kinds have you seen?

One of my friends wore a surgical mask around school for one full week as a psychology experiment. She did it to see how people reacted and treated her. Everybody would just look at her like 😕 until she explain and then they would go :laugh:!

And if the person's from Asia, it's totally normal there to wear a mask if you're sick or have allergies. Feels weird at first, but you get used to it.
 
I went to undergrad with one of thos cringe-worthy pre-meds...

She was "devoted" to her studies to the point where she would actually have little panic attacks if she didn't get to sit in the front row during lecture. So, in order to be the first one to every classroom, she bought a pair of those Heelies (the tennis shoes with wheels) and would literally race down the hallway knocking people down.

All you would see as she raced by was the little "doctor" button on her backpack.

What a joke. True, you can take philosophical skepticism to its extreme and doubt nearly everything about reality, but what we call "real" on a day to day basis are the things that manifest themselves patently and affect us observably. If movies like Inception make you doubt your reality to a point more than an amusing thought experiment, you're not applying logical principles like Occam's Razor

It would seem pretty stupid if I coudn't but I just wanted to know what proper practice is.

What a friggin ritard. I'm a PM-3 by annual standards, but only a PM-2 by 4-year university standards. (One year of medic school that didn't transfer out)...So what is my PM status?

I am seriously contemplating buying a 6 pack on the way to work after reading that

ME: "oh i saw you at the freshman orientation so i thought you must be a freshman at this college, rite?"
PM-1 guy:"Well i prefer to call it PM-1, u know like in med school they say M1 for first year."
Me: 'Well ok 😕, whats your major big guy, lemme guess biology rite?"
PM-1 guy:" no its premed in anesthesiology"
Me: "okiii good luck with that"

Imagining someone say that really makes you cringe. Like when you watch something on TV and you feel so embarrassed for one of the characters that you want to change the station.

I know! Though how terrible of them not to let him independently perform those surgical procedures. I mean, do they think he's incompetent or something? Seriously. He's premed. He knows what he's doing.

After watching countless hours of Boston Med, ER, Gheys Anatomy, and Discovery Channel, he knows how to conduct surgery like a boss!
 
Why are people so ******ed? I mean is lack of common sense a genetic defect?
 
A premed that I had not worked with before started singing a song about poop that he memorized from Scrubs. Afterwards, he recited the pledge of allegiance in Latin. Overall, a good guy though 👍

"Everything Comes Down to Poo" - definitely a favorite.

i've met a few pre-meds that freaked out when i told them i wasn't doing the honors college. because apparently if you aren't in the honors college, you shouldn't even bother filling out the AMCAS, since only people who complete an Honors Thesis are capable of becoming doctors... :boom:
 
I knew this kid (I think he was actually pre-pharm), but every single day he would be the absolute last person to show up to every lecture. We're talking 300+ students watching him stumble in awkwardly and rudely and take his seat in the same chair of the same side of the front row. About halfway through the semester of gen chem 2 he apparently decided that our prof wasn't exciting enough so every day he would lay his body across 4-5 of the stadium-style fold-down seats and take a nap. But not before loudly unwrapping his rice krispies treat and eating his PB & J.

The thing that pissed me off was that he came in 10-15 mins late because he was playing games on the computers right outside of the lecture hall. Like COME ON!!! You seriously gonna pay tuition to not pay attention and play games all day??
 
After reading some of the absolutely stupid things people do I don't know whether to laugh or smack myself in the face. :laugh: :smack: What can be going in the minds of some people is way beyond my comprehension.

Have seen inception and would be pissed if I read that before seeing.
 
This one kid in my organic chemistry class was always asking the professor questions and was most often wrong even though he would bring the book in as a reference to make his point. The best thing ever was during lecture one time the professor was talking about one reaction and how it was a "sh*tty." The kid freaked out and was like "what does this mean 'sh*tty reaction?' I haven't heard of that type of reaction before..." and the entire class (of 400 students, mind you) just burst out laughing because he was completely serious.

It scares me how out of touch some premeds get :scared:

Haha, oh geez. I remember gathering pine needles from the ground for that project. That's the only reason why I'm inclined to defend those premeds who gather leaves.

Edit on the guy calling himself a PM-1 (only PM-1 I know is paramedic 1, the slowest ambo in town, coincidence?)

He has now had an anal-spaz attack and told us all how we are moral degenerates and trying to hinder his eventual and inevitable matriculation to medical school by sabotaging his thread with flaming comments about his SDN ineptitude.
 
I think PM-1, PM-2...... is utterly ridiculous......

Its all about the random bearded fat dude in the front row of bio class who's arguing with the prof and stopping her at random times...yep seems about right..

Another weird group of premeds is in some of the girls I've met. I guess they are not used to having friends of the opposite gender..
 
Man these stories are hilarious. Kinda makes me wonder how many of these "weird" kids get past their interviews and actually end up in med school? I just can't see how an awkward kid that's annoying and thinks too much of himself would do well in an interview.
