The forum conversion is complete, but it will take a while for all the small details to be finalized (after 12 years and 14 million+ posts, you can imagine that there are a lot of details to manage). I felt it was more important to get the forums back to you, rather than have it perfect.

The forums are in the process of cache rebuilding and that means there will be some display 'weirdness' for a few hours until the cache has caught-up. The search function will be available soon as well.

I'm looking forward to seeing what percentage of people will use FB to post

Thank you for the effort and the work you put in with the updates.

While the features make posting a lot more user-friendly, the interface makes the website harder to navigate.

* Having more threads listed on a single page made the SDN forums website more searchable.

* Having more posts per page on threads saved time and made the individual page more searchable.

* The contrasting colors (orange/yellowish and blue) makes the text harder to read and ultimately forces me to take more time to find things.

Anyways, I guess ctrl + f (or command + f, for Mac) is anyone's friend on SDN. But as students with loaded schedules, we need forums that we can efficiently search through and use.

well I lost my rocket scientist badge... 🙁
And somehow I think I need some time to adjust to this new layout.

I'm going to be really blunt here and say that I'm not a fan of the layout.

SDN's rather unique look was dumped in favor of a cheap looking generic BB skin that you usually see on other "Free Forum" websites - I know because when I was younger I was started forums for clans I was running in a bunch of random online games.

But what I remember from those days was that any good forum website for a good clan or a good game always had a solid distinguishing layout that made it seem unique or epic to some extent - and I definitely can't say that about the new layout.

I apologize if there are double/multiple postings. i'm struggling in adjusting to the new layout.

All the new emoticons lost. 🙁

I'm going to hope that your first two points are settings that you can change in your options. I agree with them.

As for the third, some forums have different layouts available which will allow you to pick one you prefer - perhaps if it doesn't happen now, you can bring it up as something to look into.

I agree. I missed the old layout.

Admins and mods. Please do not take my criticism seriously... I initially liked the new layout, but it's really messing up with my posting habit.

Admins could you please revert back to the old format? it's messing up my posts.

This is still the early release. There are a lot of things still being added. Don't worry!

Thank you for your hard work, SDN volunteers!

The layout looks pretty awesome right now.

There is nothing specific that I can find to complain about at the moment.

ch-ch-ch-ch-changes

apologize in advance if this double posts. Testing something...

Layout and interface is nice.
Suggestion: the separation between posts should be clearer like before (bold grey at top of every post)....or maybe just thicker outline boxes would do it.

What sort of error message are you getting on your computer?

Usually the best advice is to try clearing cookies and/or cache from your browser then try logging back in

Yay! sector9 returns! :clap::clap::clap:

Although I feel the 10 max emoticon limit will return. :scared:

So far I'm just accessing it via SDN Mobile but none of my participated threads are showing up. I'm assuming it's just a glitch

Also the conversation thing- is that supposed to function like an IM?

Also I can't find socio political issues. Where did it go? 😱

Sidenote I'm a big fan of being able to "like" stuff now 👍 😀

Lots of white..... Lots of white.

No badges? 🙁
I agree that there's too much white. It seems that in the "Is it too late to bring back the old site?" thread, some others also think the color scheme should be different. I did try both the transition and SDN beta schemes, and SDN beta is closer to the ideal scheme. Maybe if there were more options or simply if the lines/boxes separating posts were much darker, I think that would be much better and resolve the issue of balancing aesthetics and practicality/viewability.

I actually think I'm gonna like this. Everything is pretty dynamic and easy to use. I can't get over the old interface though. It was so "SDN-esque."

Yeah, I dig the changes. I waste soooo much time lurking on this place, but now I can feel like I'm contributing every time I hit Like!

The old SDN looked extremely generic and dated. It's nice to see SDN moving in a Web 2.0 direction.

To the people who made this possible: Thank you! I work in IT and I knowwww how hairy big transitions like this tend to get, so don't think your hard work is going unrecognized.

too white and like the previous guy said, it's too hard to distinguish between posts

if i wanted to like stuff i would be on facebook. having karma points leads to all those unfunny pun threads and karmawhoring reposts on reddit

also, i can't tell when people signed up, if they're a premed or not and how many posts they have. how am i supposed to discriminate against people

Also tapatalk and sdn mobile aren't working now....will they come online later or will we need a different iphone app?
