What i meant by that is if someone registers by Facebook... their username = real name right?
Good question. I'm not entirely sure. I thought you still had to select a username. Sector?
You can't really register by Facebook. As Caesar suggests, you will still need to create a SDN username to post under, even if you register via Facebook.
You can login by facebook though if you link your SDN account with your Facebook. You will still need to have a SDN account and your posts will still show up with your SDN username. The facebook integration can show your SDN activity on your facebook feed, but this can also be disabled by clicking "Skip" when you see the dialog box "Student Doctor Network Forums would like to post to Facebook for you."
You can link your existing SDN account with your Facebook account by clicking on the "Facebook Integration" link in your settings. I think that the main purpose is to 1. show your SDN activity on your Facebook feed if you want and 2. make it easier to log in to SDN
If your Facebook account and SDN account share an email address and you try to login to SDN using the "Login with Facebook" button, you will be prompted to link the two accounts.
If you don't have a SDN account yet (or if there isn't a match between your SDN and Facebook email addresses), you will be taken to the screen to create a new SDN account, including a SDN username. All users, whether they try to link via FB or not, agree to SDN's terms of service and provide the same basic info.
If you try out the FB integration and decide you don't like it, then simply go back in to your account settings and check the box for "Disassociate Facebook account" and then confirm it.
If you don't want to associate your FB and SDN accounts, then you still have the same functionality on the SDN Forums! The only problem is that none of your FB friends know how awesome you are on SDN
😉 The normal SDN accounts are not going anywhere, and you will never be forced to login to SDN using Facebook if you don't want to!
