Well everybody it looks like I'm going to be applying again for this May. I got the rejection letter from Columbia a couple of weeks ago and haven't really heard from other schools except that they're keeping me in mind. I went through the whole depression thing that I saw on another thread, but I decided I just need to try again.

Dr. McManus from CU told me I need to raise my DAT score. I'm getting my master's from columbia later this year with an ok gpa ~3.3, and I've done dental shadowing both locally and internationally. Besides raising my DAT and applying earlier, what else could I do to improve my application in the next few months?

i think your stats look good.

there are other threads that talk about EC. you will have to do a search

here are some off the top of my head.......

maybe apply to more schools?
apply earlier? it says your stuff was sent out aug 29.
improve your personal statement?
LORs?
leadership position?
tutor?
dental assistant?
more community service/volunteering?

i dunno if that helped. just my 2 cents

honestly ur stats are pretty good, all i can think of is just applying early, i can't believe u got rejected from temple. just hang in there one more year and everything will work out, just make sure u apply nice and early.

good luck

Apply in may as opposed to august, finish your masters, apply to more schools. I wouldn't bother retaking the DAT unless you are dead set on Columbia.

Hey man i just saw your predents page and its funny i was in the same exact position as you last year. we went to the same school, have the same gpa (3.44) and same exact dat score (21). you actually did a little better than me in the science section. and i also applied in late august last year. I didn't do much to change my application. i just rewrote my PS and did 150 hrs of shadowing, oh and i applied in june this year. The most important part is applying in may or early june. Your numbers are fine you dont needd to raise your DAT score, dont risk doing worst, a 21 is an above average DAT score. PM me if you want more info. Good luck 👍.

It's already been stated but it's important. Apply early!! Get your application submitted in time to be included in first few AADSAS mailings and good fortune should be in your future. Continue to add to your EC's section by shadowing, volunteer work etc....

Thanks everybody🙂. I really appreciate the input, and will keep you guys updated.
