does anyone think it matters if i finish taking them at a less prestigious institution? my other grad and undergrad institutions both have "names" and i did fine in them, but am considering switching for financial reasons. will top schools consider it a negative/flag if i do this?

ideally, i'd like to get into a school in the top 20, but who knows if that even means anything....

thanks for any thoughts. i could theoretically get private loans, but if it's not worth it.....

It might matter to some of the "top" schools, but most other places won't care. Take the classes at a 4 year school and it will be mainly your GPA that matters (along with your MCAT).

Personally, I don't think it matters much what school you go to for med school unless you want to go into academics.

the way I see it is.... every school gets anywhere from 2000 to 6000+ applications each cycle... you really think theyr going to read EVERY SINGLE person's post-bacc school ?

Here is what I think they do:
step 1 - *adcom grabs a file from the pile*
step 2 - *opens it*
step 3 - *reads MCAT score and GPAs (science, overall, All-other)*
step 4 - *puts file down one of the 2 piles (interview) (no interview)*
step 5 - *repeat step 1-4*

From what I've heard, it matters more that they are at a four year than a junior colege.
