Hello,

I am currently a junior looking to apply to medical school next year.
Currently I am looking at a 3.55 cum GPA, 3.45 science, 29 (9/11/9) MCAT.
Biology and Economics Major- with honors
Shadowing experience- 50 hours
Volunteering in a clinic-300 hours
Research: 2 years so far, won a monetary fellowship, published scientist
Activities: global health volunteering, fraternity member, mentor for students of color, admissions representative for students of color, service fraternity member, sales associate at a retail location, volunteer for religious organization.
What would you say my chances are for DO or MD and any schools that you believe I should apply to?

I fall under the Asian category actually and am from Illinois.

I asked because of the students of color activity. You aren't terribly competitive for MD but you are fairly solid for DO.

Aim for all low-tier and new MD schools (except Hofstra and Va tech) and any DO program. CCOM is in your backyard, as are Rush and Rosy Franklin.

Would you say that most DO schools are a good bet with high chances? I also have this entire school year to raise my gpa and potentially retake the MCAT.

one school year won't raise your GPA a ton.

yes you have a great chance at many, if not most, DO schools

And how do you feel about MD, and possibly retaking the MCAT?
Thanks for your help!

I would love as much insight as I could get!

If you can score a 32+ on a retake you would be competitive. If you feel like that is something you can do then it may be worth looking into.
