Hi guys,
Its the first time I am ever posting here so pardon me for any mistakes. I am international student and I just completed my MS in Biotechnology from the Johns Hopkins University. My undergraduate degree is from India. My profile as of now looks like this:
Undergraduate GPA - 3.53/4 (as per WES evaluation)
Graduate GPA - 3.9/4
MCAT - 36M
Research experience - Masters year-long thesis on pancreatic cancer (hoping for a paper in next six months)
Undergrad thesis on genetics of Parkinson's disease
Employment - Worked for year and a half in a the lab I did my thesis project in as a student assistant
Volunteer work - Worked in Project HEALTH (now HEALTH leads) for 3 months during summer
Part of SHARE (medical waste equipment recycling program at Hopkins)
Shadowing - Have approximately 90 hours of shadowing divided between Internal medicine, Medical ICU, Oncology outpatient and Oncology Inpatient depts at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
I am currently working on my personal statement and letters of recommendations. Major hurdle in my application is that my pre-reqs are from a non-US institution. I have found a few schools which do accept such pre-reqs. I am also planning to take post-bacc courses at UMD, College Park to apply to more schools next year in case I don't get in this year. I have no preference for any medical school, at this point pretty much any med school would be great. I have two main questions -
1) Am I too late for this application cycle?
2) I would appreciate it if you could advice me as to which schools, if any, out of following would be best bets for me?
USC - Keck, UC Davis, U Colorado, U Connecticut, Georgetown U, U Hawaii, Rosalind Franklin U of Med, U Kentucky, St.Louis U, Mt. Sinai SOM, New York Medical College, SUNY upstate, Stony Brooks U, U Penn, Vanderbilt U, Duke U, Weill Cornell U, Northwestern U Feinberg SOM.
Any other options would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for all the help.
