What are some DO schools you guys recommend?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am not looking for "what is the best DO school in the country" but I want know what are your guys' opinions of some of the DO schools out there. Thanks!
These redundant questions get old. Use the search function on SDN, you will not only get the answer to your question, but you may learn some other useful facts as well.

The term "best" is too broad. Best location, best curriculum, most flexible, best clinical rotations, best affiliated residencies, etc. If you ask your question more specifically you can get a better answer, including where your location is and what kind of specialty you intend on pursuing.

Each school has their pros and cons.

MeCOM - Great school, online skype interviews now! Guaranteed admission and only 3000$ to hold a seat!

I have a high opinion of my own school, CCOM, KCU, TCOM, VCOM, MUCOM, both Westerns, LMU, TUNCOM, DMU and KCOM.

In reality, the only schools I can't recommend are Wm Carey, Touro-NY and LUCOM, for different reasons.

One thing that I will say about DMU, which almost no one mentions and I don't know why, is that their OPTI is HORRIBLE for a school that's been around for so long. Why haven't they as an institution invested more in creating residencies for their students? Either in their state or others.

I feel your pain, but it's not the job of med schools to make residencies.

What is your own school, Goro? Or is that classified?

Give me the link to their investor relations page. I want a piece of that pie before that school goes public with an IPO. Growth is probably going to be triple digits going forward.

Med Schools definitely play a crucial role. The fact that new schools like CUSOM, which has already created more residency spots than DMU, and BCOM which is getting very close already shows as a red flag to me. It clearly can be done and the excuse of schools being private vs. public shouldn't be the excuse here. The ideal goal should be for medical students to do rotations at hospitals that have their own affiliated residencies, and ultimately to match in those or have priority on those spots because their school hosts them. Heck, even UIWSOM, which hasn't even opened yet, has almost as many programs as DMU.

I think I actually interviewed with Goro. It was on the name tag.

Granted I am definitely not going to act like I know what I'm talking about but I thought DMU had a really great match report?

DMU has had 100% match the last three years, and its been pretty good. https://www.dmu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2016-Match-List-Specialty.pdf

What I think they're talking about is the fact that DMU doesn't have many of their own dedicated residency spots.

DMU's match list is solid and it's a great institution, there's no denying that. I'm just hypothesizing that as more and more DO schools open up, each will have more priority over their in-state ACGME residencies vs out of state, so the importance of a school having their own affiliated residencies will become more prominent in the coming years.

So THAT was you!!! What did we decide?

The ADCOM decided I am your replacement Goro. I'm sorry.

Lolololololololol :laugh::laugh:

Ahh I see. I remember before attending the interview going over their match list and I thought it looked really good in terms of what students are matching into. One thing I did notice, which I thought was really smart, that MSUCOM does is post match lists for osteopathic and allopathic matches (tangent, sorry).

I see. Interesting thought for sure.

My school has 100% match rate.
