So I'm currently in my gap year. I work full time, I go to the gym 5-6 times a week, I am trying my hand at a bit of all types of cooking..I travel to visit my friends as much as I can without spending too much money in the process. I find myself bored, and I finally started binge watching Netflix shows. For those that aren't in school, what are you doing during this app cycle to get your mind off the dreadful wait😕

Literally in *exactly* the same situation, including the binge watching TV shows. I never got around to doing that in college but I kind of really love it now haha. Just got through Stranger Things, definitely check that out if you haven't yet!

Working full time, going to the gym, going on tinder dates, and making plans to travel to ireland (where my family is from) and hoping to see most of europe for the first time before I start medical school (hopefully) next fall.

So bored.. My kids keep me busy, but when they are at school, cleaning and watching tv every day is soooo awful. I was not meant to be a house wife and I cannot wait until August!! Maybe ill take up a hobby.. or just watch every netflix show above 3 stars 😴

Netflix, starting olympic weightlifting classes, going on lots of tinder dates, breaking and entering, slowly losing my mind...

Tinder dates haha how has that gone for you guys? No teasing here I'm genuinely curious.

How do you guys even have time to do all this crap in addition to working full time? 😴
I work till 5 or whatever, commute home, make dinner, clean up, attempt to do errands/random tasks/interview prep, watch tv for an hour with SO, and pass out at 10 because I get up way too early.

+ neurotically check my phone all day for II

Honestly, like 90% of the people you meet are trash. Vacuous, rude, etc..
BUT
There are some actually decent people that you can make good connections with. You just gotta keep looking and not get attached to anyone.

I read somewhere that more than 75% of shows/movies on netflix have 3+ star rating...so you better start binging to finish them all by next fall 😉

My life sounds like everyone else's...work full time, hang out with SO and our dog, get outdoors when I can, prep for interviews, wish there were more seasons of Stranger Things....

Is your avatar lil Sebastian ?
Lol 🤣

I'm in a pretty similar boat. In my free time after work I've actually taken up horseback riding, since it's something I've always wanted to learn and now is as good a time as ever, before the whirlwind of med school/residency/etc. (hopefully) takes over my life. Trying to enjoy this year and pursue hobbies and interests outside of medicine seems like a smart way to spend the time.

That being said, I still spend 90% of the work day checking my email for II's... :nailbiting:

I study things I won't have as much time to study while in medical training.

Doing all this but I also started re-reading the Harry Potter series. 12/10 would recommend

Believe it or not, I JUST started greys anatomy but 12 seasons worth of gluing my butt on the couch?

I think I'll head over to the library after work to get started. Reading an 8 book series, cozied up in bed with some hot tea sounds perfect for the fall. Thanks!

Personally, I am passing the time with a lot of worrying

Meal prep! It will save you all the time cooking and cleaning up every day.

As in making lots of meals at once? I totally do that😉 I think I just take a long time to eat because I am hanging out with my SO at the same time and we drink at dinner:laugh:

My LDR is saving me a lot of time in that regard

Depending on how tight money is for you, getting my skydiving license has been
1. One of the more rewarding experiences I have ever had and
2. A Fantastic interview conversation topic.

Everyone wants to talk about it and you get to meet tons of new, wonderful people.

Everyone in my division went right before we left Hawaii. Thank God I was on duty, because there is no way in hell I'd willingly throw myself out of a perfectly good plane on the chance that a big bed sheet will save me.
