Nope, you shouldn't. Have fun and next time talk to a faculty/professional advisor.

Taking some kind of art class, maybe ceramics, just so I can graduate. Missed graduation by three credits in art/art history lol but didnt feel like taking any classes this semester.

Holy crap, dude. You sure you want to do that? That's an amazingly heavy courseload. You'll need to pull all A's or you're going to have to explain to an interviewer why you bit off more than you could chew. You have more b*lls than I.

why would anyone take cell biology, biochemistry, inorganic chemistry, and physics all in one semester?
And linear algebra on top of that!
yuck!

Calculus-Based Physics II w/Lab

Total of 15 credits, plus work/research for ~25-30 hours a week.

Nothing.

I'm going to Europe, Asia, or South America

I might drop Calc II and take Microbio instead though..we'll see

This is a very bad idea. You will do very badly in at least one of your classes; I know from experience that P Chem 2, Cell Bio, Biochem, and Inorganic are all "life-warping" classes, aka classes that seem to take WAY more time than the number of hours you get would seem to indicate they should. And while my Linear Algebra class is a joke, I hear if you have a teacher who actually cares about proofs and stuff, it can fall under that category too. I've never taken more than two "life-warping" classes at once, and so I would certainly never wish FIVE of those on anyone. Why do you feel the need to take all of these classes at once? You don't get bonus points for getting them all out of the way at once, and there's always next year...

Anyways, I've got Advanced biochem, Religion in the US, Intro to Music History, Ballroom Dancing, and either Old Testement or Astronomy. Yep, taking it easy for my college victory lap 🙂 I'm burning out badly this semester, and I don't want to go into med school already tired.

-General Physics II
-Organic Chemistry I (cue horror movie incidental music...)
-History of Rock and Roll (yes, shamelessly easy arts credit)
-Ecology
-Psychology Research (hopefully--i'm still on edge waiting to find out if i got the research position or not)

You can do all that in 21 credits? That would be 28 credits at my university! (Everything is 4 credits...)

I'm a masochist. I've been taking 18 credits/semester since the start of college. I have been close to burning out. I'm double majoring in chemistry/math while completing a university honors co-major+ pre-med/college requirements. The only way I will be able to finish in 4 years is if I have this crazy course load.

And I don't really count the non-science courses because I usually take the easy ones.

Yeah, but if I get all the hard courses done now, I can focus my time on strengthening my application in the years to come.

but if you fail all those courses, your application will be greatly weakened.

i agree, i would NOT take them all at once. I never took pchem, but biochem and and inorganic take an INTENSIVE amount of time. You want to do well in these courses, not just get them over wtih.

I wish my school had cool/rare courses like the ones you've mentioned. All our courses are pretty generic/not fun.

Guess what? The adcoms don't care. So for your sake, you better do well. That said, good luck.

I've been told that the difficulty of course load is viewed as a plus. Wouldn't taking a consistent/heavy courseload(while acing all your classes) be viewed as a good thing by adcoms? That is, assuming you ace all your classes.

You're assumption of acing is way too high. I'd give props to anyone that aced those classes in a single semester but I would question why they took them all at the same time. The prospect of screwing up is much larger than doing well.

24 at my University assuming no Biochem lab.

Wiat, how is that possible? Are you counting physics 1 lab as a 4 credit course? I already took physics 1, I'm just taking the lab this semester, which is only 1 credit.

Orgo Chem II, Orgo Lab, Genetics

Which should give me plenty of time to do lots of MCAT study.

I will be taking

Calculus 2

Inorganic Chemistry I
American Government
Physics 1 lab
Food and Nutrition(Debating taking the course)

At my university, that would be 25 credits...

4 - Physical Chemistry 2
3 - Cell Bio
4 - Biochemistry
4 - Linear Algebra
3 - Inorganic Chemistry I
3 - American Government
1 - Physics 1 lab
3 - Food and Nutrition(Debating taking the course)

Good luck. I will tell you that P. Chem. is one of the hardest classes I have taken in college. Biochem. takes a lot of time.

I am taking....

Inorganic Chemistry
Microbiology
Advanced Biochem. Lab
Exceptional People
Golf 🙂

Just curious, what is this "exceptional people"? I've never heard of that course before...

4 - Microbial Physiology 3XXX
4 - Genetics 3XXX
4 - General Chem 18XX
3 - Chaucer, Milton, Shakespeare
3 - Intro to Chicano Studies (UG has a multicultural requirement =/ )

18 Credit hours total. Debating whether to apply to take 21 or not. I probably will and take Histology or Endocrinology. Maybe...

my guess is it looks at the lives and contributions of influential people either in the US or the world.

P.Chem sucks! Make it easier on yourself, chemdude. You'll go crazy with all of those hard classes. You're risking doing poorly in those classes just so adcoms MIGHT think more of you for doing all of that in one semester? Low reward/cost ratio, me thinks.

1. Medicinal Chemistry
2. Stereotyping and Prejudice
3. Insight into the Brain
4. Bioethics
5. Intro to Guitar for non-majors (SO excited for this class!!! I've been trying to YouTube teach myself guitar...but that didn't work out so well)

and 20-25 hours of work and research

P. Chem I wasn't that bad. P. Chem II shouldn't be as bad, it should be better than I:

quantum theory, atomic and molecular structure, statistical mechanics> Chemical thermodynamics, phase equilibrium, solutions, surface chemistry, electrochemistry

To tell you the truth, I'm not really worried about the other courses. Biochem, Cell Bio and Linear Algebra shouldn't be that bad. Time consuming-but straightforward.

The only class that I fear is Inorganic Chemistry I. I don't know what to expect. I don't know anything about the nature of the class.

I've never taken less than a 17 credit hour courseload, so I am looking forward to this for my very last ugrad semester.👍
