OCPM's "pre boards" schedule

  • May 17th - May 21st = OFF
  • May 24th Start ACLS/BLS (4 hours per day) - June 2nd
  • June 3rd - June 7th (Board reviews hosted by professors)
  • June 8th - June 11th = Clinic Orientation and 2 Mock Exams
  • June 15th Summer Semester Begins (3 classes neuro, gen med, podo peds 8am - 3pm every Tuesday and Thursday up until it's time to take your boards July 7th)
  • No clinical shifts until after boards are finished.
  • Just curious what other schools are looking like compared with ours. Hope your finals went well. 🙂

At AZPod ours looks something like this:

Finals started today and go until next Thursday.
ACLS this Friday and all of next weekend (all day Friday + either Sat. or Sun.)
May 24 - June 4 Off for Quarter Break
June 7 - June 23 Classes like normal (Advanced Surgery and Trauma, Gen Med III, Intro to OR, Sports Med, General Orthopedics) 8 - 5 or so.
June 24 - July 9 Off for boards

It looks like we have more classes during the weeks before, but get 2 weeks off with no classes before boards. Good luck!

On average, about 4 people show up to the OCPM classes starting just before boards. As I recall, I probably saw 2 or 3 q's on the boards we discussed in some of those classes. If Pod-surg is scheduled for the day before or after, make sure you go, I think we got bonus points for showing up.

Good Luck on Part I!

The schedule for the mighty DMU 😎:

Normal class (Biomechanics and Surgery) until May 19.

Then our class is divided in half into 2 groups. The first group starts summer clinic that next Monday. Students have clinic 3-4 days/week and then the rest of the time is to study for boards. Once their 4 weeks is complete, they have the rest of the time to study for the big exam.

The second group has the first month after May 19 off to study as they choose and then begins their summer clinic in June which runs for 4 weeks.

As far as board review lectures have gone, we have had them sprinkled here and there throughout the second half of this semester.

Third year clinic begins July 19.

so it sounds like DMU is giving you more time to study than other schools?

That's what it sounds like. I will have one full month with absolutely no other classes or responsibilities except to study for boards. Even the summer clinic schedule is relaxed enough that we'll have plenty of time to study. One of our faculty said he's fine with us studying in between seeing patients.

We've been given (optional) review lectures for pharm, micro, and derm.

The only way you don't pass boards at DMU is if you really are an idiot AND you don't study at all for one of the most important exams of your life.

ONE person in last year's class didn't pass the first time, and he admitted that it was because he didn't prepare for it AT ALL. (He did pass on the 2nd try.)

Temple finished classes around April 20th. We have off until first week of June from all classes/clinic.

First week of June is clinic orientation and then the 2nd week we start clinic, only half days. Afternoons free. Last 2 weeks of June, we are free all day for board studying with board review classes sprinkled in throughout June in the afternoons.

Barry schedule:

About 2 hrs of class per day from May 17 - June 25. Resume Class after boards.
