Do you do anything to calm yourself down before exams? I realized that I ALWAYS have to look at all my notes really quick again, or I feel like i foget them.

come to sdn and chat.
hahhaa. i have a final in 1.5 hrs.
but studying something else.

Drink. Nothing like getting plastered before an exam.

I find that being alone before a test is the best way to relax and calm down. If you are generally a nervous person (such as myself just before a test) then hanging around others who about to take the same test is not a good idea. I find that they say things like "Oh, this is going to be easy, I hardly studied" or "Did you know that 50% of our test will cover reactions?" or "I heard no one passes these tests" ect. Comments like these will only make you freak out and second guess yourself. Be alone, close your eyes, breath and know that no amount of anxiety will help in a situation like this. Best of luck!

play practical jokes on your friends/suitemates.
i.e, pie in face, fire-extinguisher fights, airhorns, etc.

laughter ALWAYS calms me down

look over notes that i know 🙂

gives me confidence, and review some **** at the same time.

other than just keep looking at the clock (relaxes me 🙂

After I go over my notes excessivly and get at least 8 hours of sleep b4 the exam. But right before the exam I usually listen to Christina Auguilara's "Fighter" to get myself pumped up for an exam, and think "Yea! Im gonna dominate this biaatch!". Then as I walk to the exam, I also keep telling myself that its ok that I get a B or a C in the class, because they are still good grades. And I also keep in mind, if I do worse, I can always retake the class, no biggie!

Normally I'd say study, but it seems I haven't done enough lately...here's hoping my high A's will carry my burnt-out butt thru finals week. :scared:

I feel the same way, especially as I just finished thooughly bombing my immuno final. Funfunfun.

But I usually OD on M&Ms and/or Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans (or whatever those jelly beans are called); the sugar/caffeine rush makes me euphoric during the test, and I usually crash right after, leaving me no energy to obsess and compare answers with everyone gathered right outside the door 😀

In the end, one simple test will not end your life. I have failed at many things in my life, and I have found them to be the most educational experiences. Never let anyone think that your worth is equivalent to some score spit out of a scantron machine. I do not think anyone believes that what they learned in college is only expressed in one's GPA.

True; most grad schools, however, have no way of quantifying what one learned in school, and thus rely on GPAs... leading to current grade-obsession among undergrads.

i usually puke before every exam. but not on purpose.

no joke!

I get as nervous as I possibly can LOL

But my Boyfriend takes Valerian Root Tablets and He tells me that they really help him calm down!

Just kidding. The best way to relax your self is to tell you "you can do it". On the day of my dat, I changed my cell phone desktop to be "It's time to prove yourself". Something like that really encourages myself to calm down and think wisely. Hope this helps!
