Hey, I visited BU last month and school seemed very attractive. Starting off from the beautiful Boston environment, very friendly admin staff, the dental students were very nice, their clinic and sim lab was decent. The only thing which I did not like that everything was pretty old. Other than the tuition and cold weather the school seemed great.
What is your opinion on BU? If you visited BU what would you say were the negatives and positives?

Pros:
- One or two exams per week. Laid-back basic science curriculum.
- Location.
- Very friendly/caring staff and faculty members.
- Externships.

Cons:
- Their facility is renovated but not brand new (but really, how many schools have brand new facilties?)

Overall, I really enjoyed my interview session at BU. When I talked to some of the students at BU, they seemed genuine about their experience and they seemed really happy with their decision to attend BU.

Just my 2 cents.

looking at your pre-dent it seems like you have been to many dental schools. Any other cons except the facility? What is your number one pick given that you get acceptance from every school?

Well, I'm not a dental student at Boston University so I can speak only from my limited perspective. To answer your question, I'm not sure what other "negatives" they have over there. I don't think they have a real weakness and to be honest, I don't see their renovated facility as a con. To me, what's more important is that they have everything they need to train their students. They have all the specialties, a simulation lab, a computerized system, etc.

I asked a lot of questions during my interview and from my exchange with the students, I got a good glimpse of what the school will be like. I felt none of the students/faculty were pretentious (i.e.: tried to sell their school based on name/location/whatever) and coming out of their building, I felt confident about their school. The way I usually see is that if you don't feel good or confident about the school after your visit, then that school is not for you. At BU, I didn't get that feeling.

As for my number one choice, I don't know yet. I still have a couple more interviews before I'm going to sit down and think about it. Certainly, there's a lot of factors to consider. 🙂

p.s.: Oh, I forgot to mention that they have a lot of patients. So there's another plus.
