Hey everyone..I just wanted to know what you guys think of UMKC since i'm definitely going to apply for it..Does it have a good reputation compared with other universities?..Is its dental school of a high teaching standard?..Basically i wanna know everything about it 😀

Thanks a bunch..

Ohh c'mon fellas i'm sure atleast one of u know sumthin about this uni!!!

I've heard it's a "good" school. Try doing a search on Google, and include keywords, such as "news", "outreach" and so on and see if there are any online articles that you can read in order to formulate an opinion for yourself. You can always go to Dentaltown and run a search there and see if anyone has made a post about it or if it has come up in any threads there. In addition, you can always contact the school and see if they are willing to give you some contact information for current students that are willing to take some time and answer an email about the school and so on.

sorry bud i couldn't help you too much there, but i can tell you that its in a great location. i applied there myself last year and went to the school once. i didn't get to see any of their clinics or anything but from what i could tell, it was fairly new and i have also heard that their curr is pretty good and competitive.

btw, are you really an international student applying there?
if you are, i hate to tell you, but the diversity there isn't that great.

It's a good school. I personally wanted to get away from KC myself. I grew up in KC and lived there all of my life. Are you a MO resident or KS? Otherwise, you don't have much of a shot of getting in because they have a certain quota of students they accept from each state. ( They also accept a few from some southern states and possibly a couple of people with exceptionally high stats....like 3.99 gpas and 23-24DATs) They get a lot of people to apply because they don't know that they mostly accept state residents. Otherwise on paper, it looks like you have a really good shot. Not trying to be discouraging. It has good reseach programs and you'll get a good clinical experience.

Thanks y'all for the replies..Yeah i am an international student from Kuwait and there are some Kuwaiti students who have gained a scholarship to study dentistry at UMKC..When and if i be there, i would be doing the 3 year Pre- dental program first in the College of Arts and Science, then apply to the dental school itself...Do you guys mean that there are only a very few international students there?..What is the approximate composition, of students from different places, in a typical dental class?

Thanks again.. 🙂

i will only speak for IUSD. my class is composed of 101 students. 71 form Indiana and 30 from out of state.

as far as the ethnicities go, i'd say that there are about 80 white, 10 middle eastern(India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Morocco, Soudi Arabia), 4 black, 6 Asian (Korea, Phillipines, Japan).

as far as as international students go, i don't think there is any in my class.
