I thought August Rush was pretty bad, and I'm usually an easy critic of movies.
 
I would just like it to be known that I had my first appletini today and it was amazing. I felt just like JD except mine was on the rocks. I'm on my way...
 
so someone died in my village next to my house in Argos Greece. I was there yet helpless, I wish I knew what to do. The ambulance came in 20 minutes he could have been saved. I helped picked him up and take him down the stairs but I felt his cold skin, and his face had gone stiff. I knew he had passed but everyone thought he had fainted. Now they got the news and I can hear them screaming and crying from my room. I wonder if I was a doctor already if I could have helped him.
 
I had a very similar experience several years ago, and its what drove me to become a paramedic. That feeling of helplessness is good if it brings about change. So although it doesn't seem like a good thing now, it should be used as fuel to push you through medical school and make you strive to be a better doctor.

Did you know why he died? Did he have a heart attack?

That is bad news, did you witness his arrest & how old was he?

Sorry to hear that...I know how you feel, I've been in the same situation before a few years back. but even if you were already a doctor and had the knowledge necessary to save the man's life, you might not have had the necessary equipment. for example, if the man needed to be intubated, but you didn't have an intubation kit at hand, how much more can you do?

obviously, this can only be determined on a case-by-case basis...but the main thing is as a physician, you do what you can with what you got, and you shouldn't burden yourself with the what-if's -- everything happens for a reason.

but like jiggerdigger mentioned, you can use this experience as inspiration while going down the long road of becoming a physician. for me, i can credit the experience i had with my interest in emergency medicine.


btw...hope you get into western! with how much you wanna go there, you deserve to get one of their spots.

still waiting on western. 🙁 its hard being here in greece and trying to figure out things back in the states. oh well.

from what i hear, he may have gone through cardiac arrest at the time of the incident, but i am not sure. they had the funeral today, less than 24 hours after the death.

I didn't think it was bad. I liked the music. Kaki King is pretty awesome on guitar. It was like one big Gibson advertisement the entire time though.

He let me down.

UGH! Just like Rampage just lost!!! Did anyone watch UFC last week?? The light weights were amazing: smattering blood all over the mat, one of them looking like a walking, used tampon.
