First think of a definition for "profession." Usually, people associate the term with life-long learning and work that extends beyond merely punching a clock from 9-5. Also, professionals are at the top of their educational level, are usually very experienced, and can introspectively evaluate their own progress. Part of being in a profession means that you'll have to work with like-minded individuals, where you will collectively come up with definitions for performance (board scores) and ethics (the Hippocratic Oath). Finally, professionals will be required to evaluate their peers.
Now that you've got a definition, (1) is medicine a profession? (2) Do you want to join? (3) What changes and behaviors will you adopt once you do?
