So I was reading that your stipend stops upon graduation. But I will have almost two months between the time of my graduation and the time my AF residency is set to start. I would like to hear what other people have done during the time between graduation and residency or if there is something else required that I have not heard about yet.

Do you graduate in mid April? We graduate towards the end of May, which only gives me about three weeks until orientation.

Along these same lines...if you are doing a miliatry residency, will they pay for your move school->residency

Will they pay for your move residency --> attending

Some people will schedule a really easy rotation towards the end of their fourth year for their final requirement so they keep getting paid until coming on active duty (there's a max time lag allowed between the end of the last required rotation and residency within which you'll continue to get a stipend)

And yes, every time you PCS the military will move you (i.e. meds school to [military] residency; residency to attending)

You do what you want until you need to report, but you don't get paid.
Plan for this contingency.

Yes, they pay for the move to residency, provided you are doing a miltary internship/residency.

Once you check into your new command, you'll apply for Dislocation Allowance (DLA) and that's a few grand to help pay off the debt you may have accumulated over that two months, and get set up in your new location. There is a way to apply for advance DLA- talk to the folks at PSD about that. Also... don't forget to set up for a partialy DitY move. You can do that even if your household goods are professionally moved, and that will net you a few hundred dollars. However, that check takes quite a while to come in.

Yea - you'll be without income for those two months. I failed to plan for that same situation and am still paying off CC bills. As for DLA - if you're a single HPSP student (with no kids) and this is your first PCS move (which if you're HPSP and have no prior service this is your first PCS move) you won't get DLA. You will get DLA on subsequent PCSs though.

I think there's a caveat that, if you're single at least, you only get DLA if you are in offbase housing - I admit it, I was lazy and decided to just go for the dorms this time seeing as I'm only here for 2 years...!

No, if you are single, and you are reporting to active duty for the first time, you get nothing. zippo. nada.

Sorry.
