Hi all,

I am an IMG on J1 from the residency program which starts on June 8 and ends June 22. I did extra year for a Chief Residency position (so total of 4). Now, I am going to 3-year fellowship program which starts on July 1. My new program is going to move the start date to June 23 (so I don't have any gaps) but the problem is that the 7-year visa sponsorship expires on June 8, 2027 but the fellowship program ends on July 1, 2027.

Did anyone have similar issue? Who guided you for all these, program coordinators, EVSP?

Thank you very much!

This won't be a problem. One of several solutions are available:
1. Your visa can be extended -- https://www.ecfmg.org/evsp/evspeememo.pdf This is a rather painful process for a month but can be done.
2. Your program can shorten your training so you finish on June 8 of your final year. This assumes you don't miss a bunch of time from training for other reasons.
