What is allowed to bring to the test room? I'm thinkin about brining

light snacks and drink,
pen,
transparent ruler,
tissues,
glasses case,
ear plugs,
wrist watch

obviously, I can't carry them individually 🙂,

1) so is it allowed to bring a back pack, or at least a zip-loc bag into the room?
2) do you think people there would allow me to bring all of the stuffs above?

Thanks in advance!

you can bring some stuff with you to the testing center and store it in lockers, but you can only bring in your ID and earplugs, like Cole said. They give you 2 pencils and some scratch paper and that's all you'll have. You have to empty your pockets completely (they watch you turn them inside out) and if you are wearing a jacket into the testing room, you cannot remove it during the test (only during breaks outside).

I'm not even sure if you're allowed a wristwatch, looking at how paranoid the AAMC is getting. You're not even allowed to listen to an iPod during breaks to relax and recharge. So basically the only items i was able to take in were pencils, scratch paper, ID, and earplugs to the testing room itself.

You can't bring any of those things you mentioned into the actual test room. They even had me roll up my sweatshirt sleeves to see if I had written any notes on there. You're only allowed your clothes, your ID, and optional earplugs they provide.

Scratch paper is about 4 sheets of colored paper bound together by staples along its length that says Prometric on the first page. You also get two sharpened number two pencils.

I'm not positive on the wrist watch. I'd imagine it'd be OK if it doesn't look too fancy and hi-tech, but it would not surprise me one bit if they asked you to remove it.

Everything else you bring must be stored in lockers and can only be accessed during breaks.

Why do you need a ruler anyways?

What about water bottles? Are you allowed them?

Also, does anyone have any idea about the glasses case the OP asked about? (Though I guess that's not a big deal...worst that happens, I'm asked to leave it out of the room and have to carry my glasses in just in my hand.)

i don't think you'd be allowed to bring the glasses case in. just put the glasses on. i'm pretty sure their rule is that everything that is on your body needs to stay on during the test.. i for sure know that it applied to sweatshirts/jackets, etc, but i was under the impression it applied to everything all together.

I can't imagine that applying to glasses. I, for one, wear reading glasses, and you generally don't want to wear those walking around (during breaks, in and out of the room). But I will leave the case in the locker.

they do let you bring reading reading glasses. they also let me wear my jacket in, and when i took it off, someone came in and grabbed it off my seat and hung it up outside for me.

I'm not sure about the glasses case, either. I wear glasses myself and had to empty my pockets like everyone else into a personal locker.

As for water bottles, I highly doubt it. Testing centers usually have water fountains right outside the room, but you have to check-out and check-in each time you leave. That's why one of the only personal items you are allowed is your ID.
