Lets say you have $10,000 to spend on your resident room and call rooms. What would you do with it?

inb4 @jdh71 says hookers and blow

nah really, computers nearby, comfy beds, a large fridge, microwave, lockers, Keurig or something like that (caffeination station!) or makes hot water, plenty of phones, a white board, printers, copy machine, couch, tv, dvd player, porn for dvd player, Dragon for dictation with headsets, if you can have the sort of wireless phones you can carry around the hospital and by called by extension so you don't have to be chained to a phone for a call back for a page

our resident lounge has a massage table for the DO's to practice manipulations on.... I so wish we had a masseuse. Fricken pockets weighed down so much my shoulders are always killing me....

I prefer a team of masseuses to be available.

Minimalist. A twin bed, a desk, a computer workstation and a phone.

Nothing that would be conducive to doing anything in that room besides catching a quick nap - no porn, massage tables etc -- they never clean those rooms well enough and the room would quickly fail the black light test. Lots of people have to sleep there.

Your residency had a communal porn library?

Our call rooms intern year were great--they were old, but they had a window (nice to get light for the first few hours), twin bed, workstation, private bathroom with shower (cleaned daily of course), and a TV. My call was light enough that I'd catch up on some re-runs. Others would sleep but I thought that was silly considering we had the daytime hours off for night float, so I never slept more than 2-3 hours. We also had a communal lounge by the call rooms, which was nice when things were slow and you could just hang out and chat with other residents.

I'm all about the things that faciliate food close at hand, that's the creature comfort besides bed that I want, hence my emphasis on fridge & microwave

how important that is depends on the cafeteria too
