Wednesdays are "professional dress days" where the only rules are (1)your shirt has to have a collar and (2)has to be tucked into (3)pants (no jeans but khakis and or slacks are fine). The other four days, you're free to wear whatever you want.
sweatpants, sweatshirts, flipflops, occasionally my PJs...
Lectures - no dress code
Practical Labs - Professional attire and short lab coat (this is only once a week, ever other week)
I'm definitely glad there is no dress code outside of the labs.
Unfortunately lots of the students don't adhere to the dress code for labs, which is really unfair (if I have to dress up, so do you!! If I see guys wearing sneakers/running shoes this year, I'm going to have to say something to the profs; they aren't going to get away with that this year!!)
What's the point of professional attire to the practical labs? Are you actually seeing any patients?
I'll wear professional attire to the rotations, and work, that's it.
They treat it as "practice" for when we do rotations/work. We are expected to behave as if we are in a real pharmacy setting with respect to attire and behaviour. I can see the point of this; it's basically so we can get accustomed to it in preparation for real life. I don't see the point of schools that have "business casual dress codes" for everyday lectures though.
isnt that awesome?sweatpants, sweatshirts, flipflops, occasionally my PJs...
isnt that awesome?
One school told me they didn't like my hairstyle as it didn't match what they called professional. I have a pretty normal looking hairstyle too.

Oh, hairstyle is going to be non-negotiable with me. This is what I'm aiming for as my hairstyle, albeit probably will take me another year or so to get there.
I thought you were a Mets fan, not Rangers...
(ducks)
I know the local SOP enforces a dress casual code 4 days a week, with ties on the 5th day.
I'm assuming that's for guys? Dress codes for females are always a bit harder to define. There's no way in hell I'd ever wear a shirt tucked into pants, so not flattering on the female form.

At first I didn't get it, but yay someone else who likes LOTR. But I'm a NY Rangers (Hockey) fan.
rangers blow. cant even buy a stanley cup...😛
1994 biznatches! Only team that I'm a fan of that has delivered a championship while I'm alive.

so glad my school doesn't have anything extra to prove with a dress code
classes: casual, no code (i wear jeans/shirt/hoodie)
labs: professional dress (once per week) + white coat
IPPE: based on the location's dress code. i'm at a hospital this semester and pharmacy staff are business/professional + white coat; some of my classmates are in scrubs.
I understand the business/professional dress code for IPPE, but for labs? Why would you wanna wear something nice to a place where you'll probably spill stuff. For lab, I would have thought you wear whatever and just throw your lab coat on top.
Ah, the beauty of being in grad school. (I may change my mind next year, though)
First day of school was today for P2s. Damn, the P1s are probably scared ****less at the school of the administration. Pretty much all the P1s were in business casual, while there were a bunch of P2s including myself wearing jeans.
We were waiting for P2s to start classes so we have someone else to potentially share the blame when we start wearing jeans this coming week.
Go down to the 2nd floor and take a look at the osteopathic medicine students, they are dressed like bums compared to us.
Lecture and Labs: Dress formal and professional. Jeans and a nice shirt is okay.
