what is yuor fav text/review book???

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
for contents(i.e. what to study)-kaplan
for practice questions-ek

You know, I've got the Kaplan books. I've read them. I thought, "Hey, look at me. I'm the man, I've got some Kaplan. There can't be anything better..." I thought I had it all. I thought.

I ordered some EK off Amazon just cuz I was tired of hearing about it. They just came in the mail Monday...I've been reading them for 2 days now.

For those interested, I am burning my Kaplan stuff this weekend. I'll have some campfire food available. We'll tell Kaplan stories or something round the fire.

The moral of this post: I found EK. I'm not looking back. 👍

Thank you

iBid...EK

EK is great. I actually read up the relevant sections in my EK bio before my biology recitation class and I shine like a star. Hope to get a good recommendation. I also look at relevant chapters for my orgo class but it is not as helpful.

It is good practice to familiarize yourself with the EK books to help study for the MCAT if you are taking the basic sciences now.

Hi every1!
Are any of you familiar with the home-study material provided by Berkeley's review course? Where do you guys suggest ordering the home-study material from? Also, for a review preparatory course, who would be the best?
Thanks folks 😀

I used nothing but the TPR review books - I really loved those things. Now I even understand GChem after that, something I didn't accomplish in high school, 2 semesters of GChem class, and GChem analytic lab

Which EK books did you purchase? Just the 5th ed. review books? There are so many! I took Kaplan, but I am now interested in EK since there seems to be an overwhelming consensus in its favor.

I ordered the examkrackers complete study package 5th edition as well as 1001 questions for each topic (orgo, bio, etc). The complete study package has all 5 topics plus 1 full length practice MCAT.

The cheapest I've found is Amazon, I'm sure others sell it cheaper or you can get it from Ebay, but I didn't put a lot of time into looking. The list price for the complete study package is $160 but amazon is selling it for $101 (thats right...a savings of 37%...plus shipping is free!). 😀 😎

It is really interesting that you guys really like the Examkrackers review materials. I bought them because all the cheerleaders on SDN. Sure, they were concise. They explained nothing though!! Did anyone else notice that EK study guides contained within almost verbatim the science passages in the available AAMC tests? That excited me when I bought them and saw that studying from them made nothing on any of the practice tests seem distant, only familiar. I then really believed that EK must go into the real test and literally memorize passages and questions and throw it into their review materials. But, then I took the real test and there were no questions on induction like the practice tests contained. There was no solvent questions that ethers could easily answer. There was nothing on damaged microtubules that would affect cilia in lungs or fallopian tube cilia from functioning. So, did EK make me very confident? Yes! Will my real score be the same as my practice tests? Probably not because those remote questions that I could find in the EK review books were simply not present on the real deal. I do not think that anyone using Kaplan, TBR, or TPR books are at a disadvantage by not using EK books. Also, does anyone feel that EK personnel possibly post on these boards? Acting as cheerleaders, to persuade by the mighty word? Anyways, I learned what i needed to learn in order to do well on the sciences and I really hope verbal was not as bad as it felt on test day. Good luck all!!

I used TPR material and loved it. I know many people think its too detailed, but it helped a great deal for a person like me who didn't understand a few concepts in physics. I also forgot some genchem stuff since I had taken it soooo long ago. so it helped me draw upon links between them and understand the material better. I loved the practice TPR gave me too. Their workbooks, compendium, and practice tests were wonderful. Some of the questions in the review book were very similar to my real exam this time too. We'll see how I did though.
