I'm a high school senior who is just receiving his decision letters from colleges. I was leaning towards engineering at first, but now I have my doubts. I chose it because I'm alright at math, but average at best at physics. I don't want to major in something that would kill my gpa (and my chances at DS) that I'm not 100% interested in.
I do not mind the pure sciences at all (bio, chem), its just that I hardly tried at those classes in high school (still did great though). What if I don't get into DS, though? A degree in engineering seems to be better than one in the natural sciences...
So from what I've gathered:
Engineering pros:
-fulfills the math in me
-good degree
Engineering cons:
-kills gpa more so than other majors
-workload, less time for pre-reqs and dentistry work outside college
-ticks off the physics idiot in me
Natural science pros:
-fulfills pre-reqs
-not as demanding as engineering
Natural science cons:
-degree doesn't seem to be as great as engineering
I don't know what to do. Luckily I'm still in high school, not in the middle of college..
