I know that most of you probably first thought "Well, it depends on the applicant, and their stats, school, etc". What schools do you not recommend to go to period and what is your reasoning? Thanks🙂

University of the Pacific:laugh:

I am going to say state schools of which you do not hold residency.
Howard & Meharry unless you're black.
Watch out for some private schools that have deals w/ other states too!
...............everything else is fair game!

I left two schools off of my list:

NYU: Class size is much larger that I would like. I've heard stories of students sitting on stairs during lecture. It is also quite expensive.

UIC: Tuition is insanely expensive...which sucks, because I love Chicago.

I'm sure both are great schools, but for these reasons, I didn't apply to them.

State schools that accept very few out of state applicants.

Watch out for state schools where you will not get in state tuition (UIC is such an example) Those costs tend to be sky high.

Loma Linda unless you happen to be... umm... well, whatever it is they are. Latter day something-or-others? Man, and I was a religion major 🙂

Don't apply to any of the schools I've applied to. Thank you.

I would say state schools that only takes like 5 out-of-state applicants. Also, if you are not Texas resident, I would avoid applying to Texas state schools.

Close, seventh day adventists

MUSC...Charleston, SC.

BEAUTIFUL. But, they only accept 2 out of state and tuition is well..... nothing short of ridiculous.

Why does everyone hate USC? And even more important... why do those who attend USC hate it even more?

Very good question, we happened to hate this school because we have had the unfortunate opportunity to have experienced this program; it's horrible, Dental PBL sucks! period... you learn very little and there are no classes there's only seminars where you're expected to learn everything in a specific subject area such as Complete Dentures, Removable Partial Dentures, Pediatric, Ortho, Endo, etc. The worst is that faculty in the clinic expect you to be an expert in the above areas and be able to treatment plan a patient in the above disciplines. it is a JOKE for the money you have to put out.

Graduation rates where horrific for the 2007 class with an 18% on-time graduation rate; and, for our class the numbers are not looking any prettier base on the number of procedures that most of my class have been able to accomplish up to this point to graduate on time. The 2009 class will probably be screwed even more since this is like a domino effect.

Both faculty and administration are not making ANYTHING to change this nightmare; in fact, they are increasing requirements since they have seen that keeping students 1 or 2 semesters after graduation are yielding good financial dividens; the school is getting richer and students poorer.

You will listen students rant about different situations about their school; however, we SC students totally hate this school; I for one will never give a single penny to this school and am only anxiously waiting to get the hell out from this program.

Now...if you want to apply to USC, do it only if all other options for admissions have failed. I will probably wait one more year instead of choosing USC. If you GPA and DAT scores suck big time, and you thing there is no way in hell you could raise them, than USC will probably be your best bet; however, once again, try other options, do a postbac or masters or something....I really don't want you guys to make the same mistake I did.

I was talking to one of the USC instructors and, since I was a UCLA grad, he asked me what I thought the graduation rate was. Thinking about our graduation rate, I said 99%... The reason UCLA graduates on time is because they fudged the numbers A LOT. I was supposed to have 24 crowns, but graduated with 16. Apparently, USC doesn't budge. When I think about it, I think USC has it right. Sucks to be held back though.
