non sci: 3.4
CGPA: 3.1
sGPA: 2.8

MCat: ? Scored around 26 on Practice exams.....

Obviously I have a craptastic GPA.... So I will be getting my score back in 2 weeks. What MCat would you just start studying again?

Need a 30+ bro. Under average on GPA, need above average on MCAT. Start retaking classes you did poorly in.

Dr. Wily, I know you got a 33 on your MCat? Did you apply this cycle? Are you getting interviews?

I am seriously considering an SMP at this point.

Yes 33. I am currently applying and I have four interviews already (you can check my mdapplicants profile under my username)

An SMP would be a decent idea, but generally if you're ok with going D.O. it's better to retake classes that you did bad in unless you absolutely cannot (like they are nursing classes or something..)

An SMP will run you $30-50,000 more in debt. Signing up for another semester at a University is like what $3,000? Get a 26-27 on the MCAT, retake classes and get up to a 3.2-3.4. Breathe easy 🙂

Yeah, Dr. Willy is correct. Keep in mind though that your sciGPA will throw up some red flags... Might be a better idea to try and bring that up before getting to concerned with the MCAT. I would say that 30 +/- 2 pts would be a score you should be comfortable with.

Honestly, even with a 44 on MCAT, you wouldn't get an interview at my COM. Repeat those C/D/F sci classes.

Most likely wouldn't get a secondary at some schools due to getting screened out by a <3.0 sGPA. Definitely would get that taken care of before worrying about the MCAT at the moment.

Iceman, I had a 2.6 sci GPA and brought it up to a 3.15 in two semesters using retakes. I still want to bring it up a bit more, but I have two more semesters to graduate with almost straight bio classes, so I should be able to. I'm just going to apply next cycle. Bio overall is a 3.4. I think we both took the MCAT on the same day (I was originally going to apply this cycle, so I registered, then decided to go through with it even I'm not applying till June), so I'll be looking forward to see how you did. Good luck!

LOL of course he would. Unless your COM is MSU or UMDNJ, chances are that they would be desperate to get a 44 to help their average.
