what to do after mcat?

hello
i am applying this cycle. i just took the mcat. i dont feel i did well, but thats a different story. my question is what do i need to do at this point? write personal statement, what else?

just play the waiting game, work on those EC's and concentrate on keeping your grades well.

if you don't do well on the MCAT, just sign up for it again and study your ***** off.
 
Are you applying this cycle? If so, your "to do" list is pretty full w/ personal statement and amcas at the top.
 
ok once i am finished with my personal statement, what do i need to do? how do i submit it? what is amcas? what about letters of rec? i know i am pretty late, but i have to apply this cycle, i have been putting it off for the last 2 years and thats enough.
i know the sooner i submit everything, the better, but when is all this "due" ? can i submit it in october? what about november? january? i feel beat up and dont really feel like wiriting the personal statement now, but i could if i had to ...

Hm, you seem to know absolutely NOTHING about the application process. It says you're a junior member, so I find it hard to believe you haven't come across this kind of info on the SDN forums yet. Have you spoken to a pre-med advisor or read anything about the process??? What exactly have you been doing these past 2 years?

Just in case you're serious, AMCAS is the application website that almost every med school uses. Go to the AMCAS website, start up your application and follow the directions, they're pretty clear. Seriously, how did you even register for the MCAT without knowing what AMCAS is? Do it RIGHT NOW. You have to fill out your personal information, every course you've taken, list and describe all your EC's, type out your personal statement, request a transcript from your college and have it sent in so they can confirm the courses you listed are accurate, and make sure your MCAT scores get sent to AMCAS.

If you don't mind, could you let us know what your overall GPA, science GPA, and EC's are? That way we can let you know if it's worth your time rushing through the application. Meh...not to be rude, but I really hope this is a joke.

no this is not a joke, all this time i have been obsessing over the damn mcat so i really havent had a chance to think about anything else. i used to think i would be done after the mcat but after i took it i just realized wait a second, i have to apply. i dont even know my GPA exactly, but i have never got less than a B+ in any course. the reason i seem dumb is because for the past 12 months i have been doing absolutely nothing but obsessing over the mcat and now that i took it i highly regret that because all my studying seems like a waste because none of it showed up.
 
can somebody tell me when is this stuff due? i dont think i can get myself to write a personal statement for the next few days. can i do it in 2 weeks? how about october? january?
 
If you are being serious, I will oblige...

Do you have any of your letters of recommendation/evaluation? Have you sent in your transcripts? Anything?????

Once you submit AMCAS, personal statement and all, it will take about 6 weeks to verify you application, so long as your transcripts have been already sent and received. It takes them about 1-2 weeks to register your transcripts prior to this point.

If you intend to apply this cycle, you had better get going! ASAP! It took me forever to finish my AMCAS, or what seemed like forever. You have to enter in ALL classes you have ever taken and the grades you got in them. You have to enter in 15 extracurriculars/hobbies/awards/service/research activities of your choosing and the amount of time you spent on each and a brief description of each. You have to decide which schools you intend to apply to and indicate those schools on the AMCAS and pay the primary fee. You have to enter in the information of your letter writers and then those letters need to arrive soon (not necessarily before you submit your application though). You then have to enter in your personal statement (5300 characters) to the application.

This is a lot of work, and if you haven't started yet, then BEGIN NOW. Seriously.

Also, in terms of deadlines... that varies per school, varying between October and December. But considering the fact that med schools for the most part use rolling admissions and that it will take a long time for your application to get verified.... this could take a long time.

That being said... good luck!
 
If you are serious, then I would HIGHLY consider waiting til next year. you're looking at early to mid october before you even start getting secondaries... that's really really late.
