Hey Guys,

I have too much time on my hands and have been thinking about things waaay too much. If I am not accepted what do you personally think is the most beneficial route to take to reapply? I have a 3.56 in biomedical engineering so would it make sense to take an extra year and try to raise that? Problem is I could get a 4.0 or a 3.0 for two more semesters and my GPA wouldn't change much. Or should I look at some sort of masters programs? Or just focus on finding a dental job of some sort and hoping that experience plays a benefical role? I didn't do bad, but not great, on the DAT so either way I will focus on improving that, but what do you think is the most effective route to help my chances next cycle, if denied from all schools this year?

Thank you.

Have you received any interviews?

Your GPA is perfectly fine coupled with a DAT score of 20+, 19 would be pushing it. Make sure your DAT isn't low and your application is well rounded (LOR, PS, EC, etc). I don't think you'll need to do a masters with a 3.56, so save that money. Working in a dental clinic is always plus, but Dec 1st isn't that far away and you'll know soon enough, given that you've went to interviews.

If you don't get in, then spend a year improving your application, and reapply next year. Figure out what your weakness was, and improve it.

I think your GPA is good. You didn't list your DAT score, but if it's low, then retake the test. I don't know what's good/bad about your application, but do community service, get a hobby that involves manual dexterity, and try to get involved with research. Try to add to your LOEs. If you did poorly at interviews, then get better. Don't give up, and definitely reapply!

I am a reapplicant, last year i got 18, only 2 interviews post-december (got rejected by those 2 schools) and got rejected by every school. This year, i retook DAT and doing 400 hours of interning at the dental office, so far i got a fair share number of interview pre-december.

I think DAT is really important, make sure you do well on them, also interning or volunteering more at the dental office show that you really committed to the field

Wait, 18 DAT or 18 pre-december interviews?? I think you are saying DAT

Looks like your GPA is fine, and you should end up okay by the end of the cycle.

If not, you know your weakness (probably) is the DAT. Work on improving that. As far as GPA goes, its pretty solid (esp considering its BME). If you are worried about that, see if you can just stick around for an extra semester and take some more courses. Again, these are some options, in case you dont have any luck this year. I think you'll end up with an acceptance somewhere, as long as you applied broadly.

I would call the schools that rejected you and ask them why and how you can improve. Then do that.
