Yup, I did. The stigma associated with divorce in her culture is bad and no one would ever marry her again. I couldn't bear for her to live the rest of her life alone, you know?

I would rather marry her than have her live with an abusive man as well.

Is she living outside of the United States? Because I know of no such stigma in America. You're pretty much free to chose what (and who) you want to do.
And no, im not being a smartass, im just curious if this is taking place abroad.
