when I interviewed at Drexel, I was asked if my father, who worked at a hospital to which they send students to rotate, was involved in the faculty. I said no, because my dad had told me that he didn't before the interview. And the interviewer was like, "That's such a shame." I basically interpreted it to mean that, if I had said yes, I'd be in, but now i'm gonna get a reject/waitlist .. Then after the interview my dad was like, 'omg i forgot I was faculty before they were called Drexel." My questions are: How much of a boost is it for them to know that your parents taught their students? Also, is there anything I can do? Probably not, the status is as my signiture indicates: decision made 🙁 .

yea it is, but you know what? I'd really rather be rejected than accepted because daddy taught some folks .. that reason isn't going to make me do better on the USMLE .. if the committee accepts me, they should because of my (dismal) MCAT .. just out of curiosity .. what are your stats?

my friend got called b/c he listed his mother in law as a parent (why, i don't know? i told him i think those spots are for step mom and step dad)- she attended upenn. they called him and asked what his relationship was to the lady- and he said, "oh, she's my mother in law"- never heard back from upenn again.

I think you're probably reading into it too much. I think someone would grant an interview due to nepotism much quicker than an acceptance. Maybe the individual heard good things and wish he was on the faculty? Maybe your dad made some med student's life a living hell and that guy/girl is now exacting revenge on you. Who knows? Speculation will only drive you nuts.
