What to include in "Activity/Publication" Updates? (not Letters of Interest Updates)

Hello all,

Hope everyone is maintaining their sanity during this cycle. I have some activity/publication updates like a past summer job I had (happened after submitting secondaries and I didn't know I was doing it until way after completing primary) and recently finding out an old review article I helped write ended up being passed onto another researcher and subsequently published.

Should I just follow the general schematic for what was included in the primary application? I am currently thinking: Activity Name, description, hours, dates, contact where applicable for each respective one.

Format things as a letter not like the primary application. You can dedicate a paragraph to the publications and a paragraph to the activity updates.

With respect to the publications, only include articles which have been accepted for publication, and include the DOIs if possible

Should I include what the paper was about? Try to relate it to why I would be a stronger candidate? I don't know if its as cut-and-dry as "btw here are some updates. Here they are. Have a good one!"

The cut and dry is fine. You don't need to say that it'll make you a better candidate

This is a great update that you should definitely publish to your applicant portal. You can either choose to submit a "cut and dry" update, or write a letter addressed to the admissions committee where you outline why this is a major milestone as a researcher and what you learned from your time in the lab. This latter option will look much like an update letter, but there is a point where its difficult to distinguish between the two. Either way, you can't go wrong! Congratulations on your publication!
