I got into Grad school!!! But that is only the beginning. In order to prepare myself for OT grad school classes starting in the summer what should I be studying? We can't get lower than a B in the three summer classes or we get dropped. Any one have any input that has gone through their first semester of OT school? I only have 2 months until I start and I know I should be doing something during this time.

congratulations!!! what grad school? (if u dont mind me asking)

My summer was kinesiology and A&P with cadavers. It really depends on what your courses will be. Honestly though, unless you really need some review, I would work as much as you can in order to save money and get some rest. I really wouldn't study too much. Rest your brain because it will be on overload for the next 2-3 years!

I think mine is medical terminology, musculoskeletal anatomy, and neuroscience.

Look over the muscles, nerves, function of muscles, etc. anatomy and neuro in the same semester? Yeesh! 🙁

Thanks!! Yeah I know... I'm kind of nervous about it!

Cranial nerves, brachial plexus, muscles of the arm and back, basic brain stuff:names of lobe and what they do.

You can read "Clinical Neuroanatomy Made Ridiculously Simple" that way you will be able to get a taste, but not have to delve too deeply. Review muscle actions... maybe download an anatomy app on your phone and just work on it when you're bored. Otherwise, don't stress too much... you will have plenty of time to study in the term, and you will be fine.

Thanks I will have to look into getting that book! I never thought about a phone app...good idea.

I've been following this thread for ideas - does anyone know of any really solid websites that have good interactive reviews of the muscles? I do not have a smart phone or an iPad, so I can't just get an app. I have my A&P text of course, and flashcards are fine, but something I can play with might be nice.

Don't study anything just relax and enjoy your time off. I didn't study anything in advance and got A's in anatomy and neuro.

^^^ Ditto. Seriously, your social life is about to become non-existent and your head will be either in front of a computer screen or buried in a book for the next 2 -3 years. Please do yourself a favor and go enjoy the summer or make some money while you can...

:/ so I've heard....I guess I mentally need to prepare myself lol

I currently am a bartender at night and am wondering if there are any other people who worked in the restaurant industry while going through grad school?
Where you able to still have enough time to study? How many days did you work?

My classmate is a bartender too and she is able to make it work by fixing her work schedule around our class schedule. She is doing well and if you are able to manage your work and school you should be fine! And yes, just relax this summer because your first year will be stressful with all the adjustments and work flow.
