"What will you bring to this class?"

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Depends on the school. But definitely show that you bring something that will enhance the learning experience (leadership? any group projects in the past where you had to take charge?) as many schools have some form of PBL element to them.

whatever your answer...you better be able to back it up with some examples of how you've demonstrated this characteristic

Exactly. It's tough to talk about this stuff I think. I'm not one to walk around saying "I am awesome at this and this and this and I am going to be the best dentist and there is no school that will turn me down." It's extremely difficult for me to talk about myself, I feel like an a$$.

SO, I've been going through my application and academic and leadership history and figuring out unique things I've done and substantial things I've done. Start out by writing it down in bullet form and tell yourself why it was worth doing those things. If you look back at it and say "I wouldn't waste my time doing that again" then don't mention it in the interview as something noteworthy. Eventually you'll convince yourself that you are truely unique and you'll get more confidence (which might be what really matters).

It has gotten easier to talk about myself and my wording is getting better so it comes across positive and not bragging.

good luck.

"A laptop, some pens and pencils, maybe a printout or two, probably a backpack of some kind..."
And a cheque for $40K at the beginning of each term 😀. You left out lunch money too btw.

armorshell, you crack me up!

But seriously though, I don't think I've had any leadership position at all...in that case, what the hell do I say?

you say, "i'm just a bio nerd." seriously.
Yes, just what a school needs?? Another nerd to add to their collection. You should talk about things that make you unique and how you can contribute to a school's diversity... if you can't talk about situations where you had a leadership role.

I know seriously I hope I end up at the same school as armorshell!
