Hi guys!

So I am beginning to get really nervous with this whole application process. I haven't heard anything back yet and I know its still early in the cycle but I definitely expected to hear something by now at least a little something. I submitted my application 8/3 and it was Mailed 8/19.

Schools: Meharry, Buffalo, NYU, Tuoro, Temple, Rutgers, BU, Tufts, Stony Brook, Maryland
Stats: 3.58 oGPA, 3.53 sGPA
19AA/20 OC/19 GC/17 BIO/20 PAT/21 RC/20 QR
Currently taking A&P to show them my biology score isn't accurate.
300+ hours community service
Research in Electrochemistry
100+ hours shadowing

I am not sure if I should get into the mindset of possibly having to take the DAT again because I am not sure where my application lacks that I haven't heard anything yet. SO my question is if you guys were in my situation what would you do?

Thanks!
Anxious Applicant
P.S. RTR

You took biochem and all of stonys pre-reqs? Cause stony needs those for an invite.

Im surprised you havent gotten anything from buffalo.

Yes I took biochem! idk if it's because of when I submitted my application but I haven't received anything. The only thing I could possibly see is the DAT score but I'm not sure

Hello! I figured I'd give my two-sense for what it's worth (Sorry you're having no luck, I'm sure thats no fun):

Unless there's a glaring issue with your application that you're leaving out, I would give it more time as things begin to overload now with the schools focusing a lot on current interviewees and the beginning of their focus on next years incoming students (us). Did you fill out the secondary for NYU yet? Rutgers takes forever like people hearing back now submitted all the way back in June. Stony Brook is tough. Maryland seems to be a bit of a crapshoot with how and WHEN they offer interviews. Buffalo got back to me fairly quickly so they could use an automated sifting system or something of the like so you could be in the "look at again" pile if you're under their numbers. I don't want to pretend like I know how applying to dental school works because we all know how random it could be, but for you I would say try to keep your head up and remember its still VERY early in the process. Especially as a NY resident with many seats to go around, I am sure you'll get in somewhere just stay positive! 👍👍👍

To be honest I applied to so many schools back in mid-july and have only heard from three schools thus far. The great thing for you is you've got an easy fix with that gpa of yours if you don't get in this cycle, which is retaking the DAT.

But honestly, you're competitive and I'd be surprised if you don't get in somewhere .

You realize his dat retake may risk him doing worse or going from a 21 RC TO 16 or similar. Nothing on that exam is guaranteed in terms of what you studied hard for so I personally would advise he not to retake it. Plenty of people matriculate with a 19AA and even interview with less.

It's true that some people from June won't hear back until post-December for some of the schools you've listed.

Yes I did fill out NYU's secondary. I thought Rutgers would be faster considering I was apart of their Gateway to Dentistry program. I am trying to stay positive, but seeing everyone getting interviews is starting to get me nervous. I appreciate all the kind words you guys are saying. I hope that I can post soon with some good news. But thank you guys for responding and I wish you all the best with this whole process!!

Do any of you guys have any idea the meaning of Application Complete. Does it mean that they are done reviewing my application or that I have turned everything in that would make my application complete? I have heard mixed ideas about the meaning of that status.

I hears after two weeks of review and if you dont hear anything, then

This. I'm wondering this same thing .. except my status has been "Received/Under Review" for almost a month now :/

A lot of mine are that way too and only 2 are Application Complete and they have been like that since I sent in my information so I have no idea what to make of it.

blahhhh.. the waiting sucks lol maybe we are just freaking out because it's so nerve-racking

btw, have you filled out BU's supplementary?

I am hoping so. I check my e-mails more than ever before and I get mad when I get an email sound and its from a clothing store. But, yes I did! Have you?

Hopefully tomorrow will bring us both good luck! Thank you, I hope the admissions people think I am a good candidate as well!
