Are people being laid off or are they just fleeing before the changes are formalized? I'm just curious because in my general area there are 20 + openings with Target. Anyone know what's going on?
Okay, maybe that's what's happening. It just seemed really odd.Not sure if it applies here, but sometimes after a merger/acquisition occurs, jobs are posted and current employees have to re-apply for their positions and get re-hired.
Omg, that's a total CVS move!!! Lol!! 😀CVS is luring in unsuspecting pharmacists who think they will be working for Target. Hey come work for for Target! Surprise b****es! It's cvs!
I agree with you.You know....here is a general rule of thumb I usually go by. If any company/employer suddenly has a lot of job openings I STAY THE HELL AWAY. To me, it means trouble. People are being fired, quit, laid-off, or having to re-apply. That is too instability. There is a hospital in my city that always seems to hiring. Guess what? A lot of folks quit due to low pay and horrible benefits.
Be careful.....
CVS will use them, too?Just realized something, Target was the only pharmacy that did the flat red bottles where the label was easier to read. Guess that will go out the window when CVS takes over?
yup - same thing here - one hospital had 5 people put in their notices in a 2 week period. You know....here is a general rule of thumb I usually go by. If the openings are at Target, it might be from Target employees jumping ship on the news of take over. If the openings are already through CVS it could be a signal of the deal actually closing soon. Also just because job reqs are opened does not mean they are actively looking. A job req needs to be created and opened before anyone fills the position. The people could actually already be earmarked. I'm not saying this is the case but they could have opened new spots for recently licensed graduates.

Unfortunately the target bottle will most likely be retired. I have no proof but it makes more since for 1600 pharmacies to adapt to the cvs way than it is for 7000 cvs pharmacies to adapt to the target way. Not to mention that those bottles, rings, and labels cost a lot more than the standard amber vials.
enlighten usIt's funny to see people speculate - you guys have clue![]()

My sig other is a Target pharmacy manager and so far has been told absolutely nothing. No point in putting out confidential information. You'll find out eventually 😉 Non-target pharmacists are more concerned about this whole thing than Target pharmacists because you guys don't have info lol

Any chance they are hiring more to get rid of the full time positions?

Target Pharmacist are about to learn what real retail is all about. That is not confidential information.
Welcome to the rest of the world.
Cardinalgirl is probably referring to some small insignificant detail of the acquisition, such as "Everyone will wear red smocks to promote CVS/Target unity!" Wow! Incredible secret! No one cares. If you aren't going to tell us what you know, then why bother saying anything at all? Nobody is going to give you extra credit for knowing a secret, when we have no evidence that you know anything at all.

So who else closes for lunch now besides Walmart? I'm working as the only pharmacist and enjoying being at subway while the pharmacy is shut down for 30 minutes. I never want to give this up.

Ah, yes, because clearly everything that has been told to you by the Target DMs that are trying desperately to keep a comparable job, which would require them to have high employee retention for the transition, is definitely accurate. After all, CVS Caremark has a reputation for sterling integrity and no hidden agendas in policy, they would never lie to anyone.

I doubt that. There have been conference calls, emails, and direct meetings. We're not that clueless. We may not have every detail, but they've tried to shed light where they can.
Right, consisting of instructions to "continue business as usual until it clears the FTC, then once we call ourselves CVS the transition to the new system will be slow."
That qualifies as zero information. And don't think that you'll be spared from the CVS hatchet men just because you used to be a Target. You'll find out what they care about most once the honeymoon period ends.
??? There was no insult??? But if you flaunt your inside info with your winky faces people are gonna call you out. Welcome to the Internet Lolyou guys are easily angered lol you care enough to try to sling insults 😉 honestly, it's not that big of a deal. No one in my district is freaking out about it because we know it will be better than working in a real CVS.

Just goes to show how far out of touch with reality the former Target pharmacists are.
The bottles may stay since CVS bought the rights. After getting more information from our field leaders, I'm not as concerned about myself. My pay will be the same, I will operate from my Target location, my techs will still be highly compensated, I won't have to worry about a drive through or 24 hour operation like at other CVS locations, and I will still follow Target's holiday schedule. Sure we may eventually lose our lunch, which sucks but isn't a deal breaker...my main concern is having enough hours for my techs, but our scheduling will remain the same for at least the 1st year.
Us having lower volume doesn't mean Target is not "real retail." To me Target (and eventually CVS @ Target) has more of an impact that many other pharmacies, because due to our lower volume we have time to provide better patient interaction for our guests. We're not stuck at a computer verifying all day, we know our patient's by name, and we're an integral part of their healthcare. So if that makes me a "fake" retail pharmacist, I'll take that any day...
