What's up with UVM?

Any OOS who just got rejected or accepted w/out being put on the waitlist?? I'm just wondering how exclusive this waitlist is, does anyone know if they actually put EVERY OOS interviewee in the WL?

Does anyone know how the waitlist works? Are we given scores and placed on the list accordingly or is it first come first served? How do they sort us out in terms of position on the list?
 
well from my personal expereince with this last year 🙁 ...
sometime around May 15th your status page will tell you which of the 3 tiers you're in :
Top or High or something
Middle
Low

Thats all they tell you - nothing about where you are within the tiers. Last year lots of people got in from the top and they reached the middle (but not my part of the middle i guess).

Anyway - I really do hope that the waitlist at this point is good news since 2 other people here on SDN were waitlisted and the later accepted - well before May 15th.

I'm keeping my fingers/toes/arms and anything else i can find crossed!
 
Add me on the list of "potentials". Geez, did anyone get accepted from this batch??
 
Me too🙄 We should start a club....oh wait....it'd be all of us....guess it wouldn't be very exclusive🙂

Welcome to the waitlist game... As someone who played it last year and won... let me say that its not a bad place to be (even though i know its not the best)... While I would say that some people got off the waitlist before may 15th, the majority of us didn't hear until after that date. Each of you needs to figure out what you want. If UVM is the only place in the world you want to be, you have to communicate that and express that to the admissions office. If its just one of several schools that your waitlisted and you spread your energy amongst all of them, it will show and hurt you in the end... Anyway good luck to you all...

When did you interview last year? I wonder if it is time dependent......
 
Oh well, guess all we can do is relax and enjoy the holidays. UVM is my #1 choice and i hope the waiting and hard work pays off. Hopefully we'll all get in...and find out soon!
 
does anyone know if OOS students really do end up paying that high tuition? that's higher than most private schools! that's the one thing scaring me from UVM. i love everything else though.

yes, you pay full tuition all 4 years. pretty expensive...but as a canadian i pay full tuition EVERYWHERE!

It looks like everyone got waitlisted. During the round of acceptances (oct 18th) everyone did also. So, it seems like they waitlist everyone, and then accept. Dont ask me why! But consider yourself fortunate. They send out rejections pretty quickly too.
 
About how long after you were complete did you get the interview invites? And how did they come?

I'm in-state, so the timing is most likely different for OOS. I was complete for about 3 weeks before the status page changed to say that I was under review. I was under review for about 2 weeks and then got the interview.

They'll update the status page and send you an e-mail for the interview invite.

Okay, that makes me feel better... at least a little bit anyway...

Sounds like the people who have been accepted off the waitlist so far heard about 2 weeks after being put on the waitlist?

ya thats what happen for us. I know 3 SDNers (1 instate) who got accepted in 2 weeks after being put on a waitlist
 
Hey all, in-state too and waitlisted.
I heard as most of you probably have that there's so many in-state apps this year that they wanted to give everyone a fair look, and that most of the early interviews would end up on the waitlist, and then the waitlist will be very mobile. Seems to be true from what we're seeing here at least.

Still, it's a bummer. Merry Christmas.
 
OOS and waitlisted. 🙁 Still, being on teh waitlist is better than an immediate rejection. If only my state school were a little quicker getting back to me, but they too love putting folks on teh waitlist.
 
I've become almost OCD in this process, so I read the new posts to this thread and then checked my online status (again) and...I GOT IN!

I'm in-state, so that may be part of it, but keep checking folks...it may not be long before you get the big smiley face! I was put on the waitlist yesterday after my late November interview.

Good luck to all. UVMCOM has a great program, and you can't beat the location!

I just checked the status page, and JUST GOT IN! This was after I was waitlisted yesterday, so keep checking that status page, guys! It may not be long before that page changes...
 
Is it just me or does this broad waitlisting smell like a ploy to improve their matriculant-to-acceptance ratio? Anyone who already has a more preferred acceptance probably wouldn't withdraw before a decision, but they most likely will now after being waitlisted.
 
Hmmm... are the 2 that got pulled off the WL from yesterday all in-state? Any OOS get pulled off yet?
 
off the waitlist today& can't wait to go! (in-stater waitlisted yesterday)

I was waitlisted for one day (what is the point of that?!). Interviewed end of November.

Sony, I'll be there in August. UVM was the only school to which I applied, so it really was my only basket.

i was also accepted today (via status page)....i think they just aren't very good with the internet yet here. I'm instate🙂
 
Don't forget to add your names to the acceptance page! What is up with their admissions system? They just waitlist EVERYONE...then accept them? It's so weird...oh well! Good job for getting accepted, though!

Truly OOS here...Born and raised in CA, never been to Vermont but loved it. 3.6 gpa from UCSD, 30ish MCAT, URM.

I'm definitely going to UVM. It's the only place I applied, so I'm psyched to be done with the whole process! (In-stater)
 
I am going for sure...when orientation? Aug?...that's seems like a century away.

So I am getting frustrated with UVM. I interviewed in the beginning of Oct. and have not heard anything from them. I e-mailed the admissions office and they said I would probably find out before christmas. The most frustrating thing is that people who interviewed over a month after me are hearing back!

Should I call them tomorrow? I really loved the school and am getting really impatient!

Are you from Maine, in the ME Access program? I think I remember hearing at my interview that those folks had to wait longer to hear...
But if it will make you feel better, give them a call. Mary Campbell is a dear and I'm sure she wouldn't mind answering your questions as long as you are NICE!

in our decisions they say to email it to them....are you on the WL? it should say it on your status page

edit: "If you would like to submit a letter reaffirming your interest in the UVM College of Medicine please do so via email to [email protected]."

on my page it says that I am "in the pool of appicants that they may consider for interview". I have been complete since late Sep/early Oct.
