What's up with UVM?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
is anyone out of state getting interviews right now? i was complete so long ago, and i really really really would love to be out of the "pool" and on some dry interview "land"....

i really like what i've heard about UVM's program and the excellent preparation for pediatrics....

Complete since August and a whole lotta silence since then. I'm growing old in "the pool" with you. Too bad. They seem like such a great school, and in such a beautiful location.

I'm OOS and was invited to interview earlier this month for an early March interview slot. Don't give up hope...

Congrats, Notdeadyet. How did your UCSF interview go? Not to completely divert this thread, of course.

Went well, thanks. UVM is now my last interview (so far, anyway). It's always had a special place in my heart, so I'm keeping fingers tightly crossed and prepping like mad...

Have any instaters gotten off the waitlist yet? Either back in December or at all since?

may i ask what you're doing to prep for it?

You cant really prep for the interview. The interview is a conversation. I know this is lame, but just be yourself. and know what is important to you....

good luck for those who are going to be interviewing and those on the waitlist!

You can certainly learn about the school's curriculum, evaluation policy, rotation schedule, research and travel opportunities, hospital and clinic system, etc. Give yourself the tools to ask good questions that will allow you to better evaluate whether the school is the best fit for you amongst those schools that offer you a place (if you're fortunate enough to be accepted by more than one), and that will also allow you to shine in front of your interviewer.

Basically, I always want to go in the door being able to answer "Why UVM?" and "Why Me?" Chulito's punch list is a good way to answer those questions well...

Thats an important point. Ya its important to know all that stuff. But dont be worried if you dont know all that information.

when i interviewed at UVM, i was worried about the vic curriculum. didnt know anything about it...but my interviewer cleared it all up for me...I dont think they expect you to know everything and certainly will not pop-quiz you.

I found the presentations, tour, and opportunity to have a round table discussion with the dean pretty informative as far as questions about curriculum, facilities, and strength/weaknesses of UVM. Also, always good to have insightful questions and a view of how you would fit in before you step into the interview.

What is Chulito's punch list? My interview is on Feb 20th and I have no idea what to do to prepare.

I wish we didn't have to wait until may to find out which third of the waitlist we're on...

I wish my status page would update...even though it's only been two weeks since my interview.

anyone know if those that were waitlisted back in december will be looked at again for the feb/march offers? i need to know so i can stop checking my status online 😀

Does anyone know when the committee is meeting in February?

I didn't think there was going to be any change for the waitlist folks until may, am I wrong?. i'd love for some news in feb, but I just didn't think it was too likely. Is there some insider info we're not privy to?

Does anyone happen to know when UVM's last interview date might be? Just wondering if they are pretty much done sending out invites...

I think they'll interview until march, i know friends last year who were interviewing then.

I've still got that oh-so-elusive "A decision has been made" 😕 :scared: :scared:

I'm interviewing in early March, so they interview 'til then.

Unless this is some sick idea of a joke on their part.

So I almost started giving up hope and started checking every other day rather than 2x a day and I just got accepted today. I interviewed in October and have been on the waitlist since December. Definitely don't give up hope like I almost did because things will work out. That means they must still be reviewing and accepting. Keep checking; say some prayers, and good luck.
🙂

Congrats! I hope I get off the waitlist soon... Hopeful--> becoming hopeless?

i interviewed late January and got placed on the waitlist-- does anyone know if status changes before May? Also has anyone heard how many ppl they take in the end? It sounds like most people are on the waitlist to start off...

I need to stop checking the status page obsessively! Please help?

people are taken long before May...that's what most of this thread has been about, just read back. I don't know how many ppl end up being taken, if someone else can answer that.

Any word on movement of any kind, acceptance or rejection? Seems like all's quiet...
