Hey,

I'm a psych major, going for a 4 years BSc.

Had a lot of troubles in my past, my GPA is not worth a dime.
Going for my third year right now, I understand that
any pre-med / PhD / PsyD is out of question.

I'm from Europe and International student in Canada, I'd like to
find a job at the coast area (Toronto, New York, Boston etc.),
have some friends + fam there.

What steps do I have to take now, to get a job there in 2 years?
I'm willing to give 110 % and I'm also on meds for PTSD now,
fully functioning finally.

Internships, tests, general health courses in the summer? Summer classes?
Would I even get internships with my screwed GPA ?

I really do need a decent jobs when I'm done, pretty broke and in debt right now, with no Mummy and Daddy to pay for me.

THANKS ya'll. 😍

Sorry to inform you but in the US you cannot do anything in psychology with a Bachelors degree, aside from a crappy research assistant job that is very competitive. With a bad G.P.A. and a psychology major, you are unlikely to find a job here. If you are in need of money, switch your major and study something practical, like nursing. Nurses are always needed.

Alright, since I do wanna go for Psychology, because I love it,
I'd like to know what to do now.
I'm in a BSc program right now, there's a University offering
a B.A. in Psych in a town nearby.

What happens if I start fresh there? Can I?

What happens if I can get my first year erased at my University?
Any things I should know about that?

What happens if I transfer to another University? Will my GPA change?

I got a doctor's statement here that explains how I was not able
to function due to personal problems, and she even wrote it in decent English.

if you know anything, please let me know. If this thing f*cks up,
I have nothing left in life, seriously. This study abroad thing is
all I live for and all I make money for.

All I'm doing is reading Neuroscience literature, and pre-studying
for my next courses, besides working my a++ off in good old Europe.

thanks so much.

If your GPA in your current degree program is poor, then its poor. You cant change that. You would have to complete another bachelor degree in order to start over completely with a new GPA.

The previous poster is correct in that there is little work in psychology at the bachelors level here in the US. Many who want to pursue a Ph.D. (especially in clinical) work as research assistants in labs and in psychiatry departments after the bachelors degree in order to become more competitive. The money, however, is not very good. You could also conceivable get work as a case-manager with a bachelors degree. However, again, the pay is not great. These probably aren't jobs you would want to make a career out of. For most, they function as transitional, stepping-stone, type jobs.

PS: I don't know what its like across the pond, but in the US, psychotherapy is the first line treatment for PTSD. I wouldn't count on meds making your PTSD disappear.
