When do students normally take the DATs? I know that early birds prep and take their DATs during sophomore summer, but normally from when to when is the most popular time to take your DATs and when is considered too late?

During summer is popular cause you have the time to study. During school year it's hard but doable if you have a tight schedule (for some people only). Normally people will spent at least 1 full month on DAT.

I took mine in the beginning of June after my Junior year and that worked out well time-wise. Taking them after sophomore year would be nice because Ochem would still be more fresh and then that would be less stress for you during Junior year. But all in all ideally you want them done by the May or June after your Junior year so that you can be an early applicant. All in all though take them when you are prepared and can give yourself ample time to prepare because anyone can do well on it if they study enough. Too late is probably September or October of the year you are applying. Thats my DAT rant, hope it was helpful

I took mine today. Take whenever you feel ready.

Usually the summer that you're applying to dental schools but whenever you feel ready really. Most people I know try to take it soon after finishing their organic chemistry class.

Based on the evidence previously available from the ADA, the majority of applicants take the DAT between July-December.
