When is the best time to take the MCAT?

I have studied over the summer and I am currently a junior. Should I take the MCAT in January or sometime in the spring? I plan to enter medical school in Fall 2018.

Basically if you're aiming for applying as soon as the cycle starts (~ June 2017), the April MCAT would probably be the latest possible date. You could even take the May MCAT and still apply relatively "early".
