I'll soon begin my pre-pharmcy classes this summer. I'll ask for the LoR if I get chance. But I plan to apply PharmD in 2010 spring. If I ask this year, the teacher must will forget writing after one and half year; if I ask in 2010, they may forget who I am.

I good thing to do would be to stop by their office once or twice a semester to catch up with them. That will help them remember you. Or pick professors who you just had class with.

I would look into setting up a credentials file. At my school, through the pre-professional office, students could set up a credentials file, allowing faculty to submit recommendation letters privately on behalf of the student. This service is really nice if your school offers it because your letters stay on file for five years, so if you need to apply twice or to a different program, you have access to them.

This would allow you to ask one of your professor's for an LOR at any time, not having to worry about it before applying.

The best profs to get a lor from are science. Preferably one you have done very well in their class. Make an effort to see them outside of class and build a good rapport with them. If you have the chance, work in a pharmacy and get the pharmacy manager, or owner for independant pharmacy, to write a lor as well.
