Hey all!

Do any of you know if you HAVE to do your peds sub-i early. Is it OK to be doing it during interview time? Will they expect that you have done it when you get to interviews?

Also, is it imperative that one of your LORs come from an attending that you did your sub-i with... or is one from a peds elective just as good?

Thanks for your help!

Stressing over rotations/applications,

I would think that it would be beneficial to do a Sub-I in the late summer/early fall so that your evaluations can make it into your Dean's Letter, you can get letters of rec for your application, and it's another example of why you like peds for your interviews (for what that is worth).

More practically speaking, it would be difficult to do a Sub-I during interview season -- you are the intern for your patients, and it would be difficult to be taking off for interviews and leave others to take care of your patients for you.
