First time posting. I was hoping to get some advice from you guys. I already have a bachelor's in communication and was going back to get a second one in chemistry with the intention to apply to pharmacy schools.

After some consideration, I've decided to just get my pre-reqs out of the way and apply to pharmacy schools and not get the second degree. I was planning on taking 2 years to finish up but now I've got one year so everything is pushed up. Should I go ahead and take the pcat in september (even though I haven't started studying/taken organic) and then have another chance of taking it in january right before my application will be due? (the school I am applying to accepts the january scores) I guess I'm just worried about doing horrible on the first one and having it haunt me but I also don't like the idea of only have the january test to rely on.

In reality, yeah, not taking organic will lower your overall chemistry score, but how much will factor into your composite you don't know. I'd take it in September and see how you do. If you do decently, you'll be glad you saved a few hundred dollars and you'll be able to enjoy the holidays. If you do bad, there is always January...but what I'm trying to say, if you have a low composite, that means it wasn't organic alone that hurt you.

There are some helpful videos on organic here if you want to try and learn it without a class: http://www.khanacademy.org/#organic-chemistry

Good luck!
