So here's my situation....I need to take some classes this summer/fall/spring before I can apply. I need to work to support myself and my wife, so I plan on taking Chem 1 and 2 this summer, O Chem 1 and an English class during the fall while I study for the DAT, take the DAT in January, and then take O Chem 2 in the spring, then apply on day 1 of the next cycle. I guess what I'm wondering is whether or not it will hurt me that much to take the DAT before O Chem II? Would it be better to take the DAT right after spring semester so I will have O Chem 2 under my belt and then just have everything ready to apply once my DAT is in? (when is the DAT offered.....May, June?) My GPA will be average at best (3.3-3.4) so I know it's important to apply as early as possible, so that, in addition to wanting to have the option to retake the DAT in May or June is what led me to my current time line, but I'm kinda worried about not having O Chem 2 before hand....what are your guys' thoughts on my situation? Any advice/comments are welcome. Thanks

DAT is given any day you want it to be given (joy of electronic test.) Why not take the DAT after OCHEM 2? You don't need to have taken your DAT to complete your application.

So I could schedule the DAT for say, a week or two after spring finals and since I would get my scores instantly after the test is done, I could still apply on the first day possible? When is the first date you can apply (i know i could research, but if y'all know it off the top of your head...)? Also, does it take a while for schools to get your DAT score, or could i just have everything ready and then have my application complete the day or two after the test? Also, do you think the advantage of having O Chem 2 under my belt outweighs the advantage of being able to retake the DAT before the application cycle opens? Sorry, i know its a lot of questions but I just wanna make sure I give myself the best possible chance to succeed.
