That SDN is not for medical advice??? It drives me insane.

Personally I thought closing the thread about whether a dead cat could have been infected by the girlfriend (or whatever the detail was) was a bit much. It is not like there was any chance of treatment of a dead cat. It was really a more general question.
Advice would seem to be something that is actionable, whereas this was more a question of theory.
IDK, maybe it is just me, but it seemed harmless.
Go on any dog owner forum, on the other hand, and you'll get all kind of medical advice. Mostly the "mix two parts flour and one part honey and insert into ears" variety.
I saw one person ask why would their dog's penis smell so badly and 90% of the responses were slamming the person for being a pervert.
What bothers me most is seeing facebook newsfeeds of childhood friends who have horses, that post problems with their horses, and there's always a huge long thread of comments about what they should/shouldn't do. None of which has anything to do with a veterinarian. It's always:
"oh, well that looks like proud flesh, you need to cut it off with a knife,"
"use this cream, I have some,"
"no no, lemme come and take a look. I can wrap it,"
"buy this crap online,"
"well I heard from my trainer that you warm compress it every 3 hours,"
"no no no, you need to bandage it with salve"
Horse people are psycho.
Full disclosure: I own a horse.
Training advice with horse people can get fuzzy too.

If you want to run the full gauntlet of absolutely crazy advice, check out forum discussions for dog behavior.
It's the only place where I've seen chamomile extract, alpha rolling, crystal chakras and strangulation to unconsciousness all discussed as reasonable alternatives in the same conversation about controlling excessive barking.
I hope you're kidding about the last one...
Nope, sadly.
There's a fun contingent of the amateur behavior community who still live in the 18th century and really believe in the old-school methods for 'breaking' dogs.
It's called 'hanging'. These folks think that taking an aggressive or disobedient dog and choking it out with a slip lead, choker or just rope is the best way to reinforce dominance. Every time they see an unwanted behavior, the dogs gets choked out. The really rabid people, usually deep southern, talk about how a few sessions of hanging a young dog from a tree until it's unconscious, then reviving it, make for a really obedient, submissive dog.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg for how batsh*t crazy some of these people are.
Gaaahrhrhrdhkrldahklf. That pains me. I had no idea that existed. People lay down horses all the time (it doesn't have a snappy name like alpha roll), but I didn't know dog people where into crazy extreme asphyxiation shenanigans.
Watch Cesar Milan carefully.
Like when he saddles them up for rollerblading? I honestly haven't seen a ton of the show... is he choking out puppies?
No, but it's not a huge leap from his training method.
Which is pretty much why the guy is a joke.

If by "fuzzy" you mean "hairy like bigfoot's private parts", then yes, yes it does get fuzzy.

I'm more inclined to complain about all the products he's putting his name on and selling. Mineral water for dogs? Btchplz.
