For those of you applying to med schools this summer, I recommend playing a particular song whenever you get a rejection in the mail (everyone gets 'em): "Where Is The Love" by the Black Eyed Peas. It makes the rejections seem not that bad, trust me.

When UCLA rejected me post-interview, I was tempted to call their admissions office and just play the song over the phone. I think it would have been semi-appropriate.

Any other good songs you guys use to deal with the whole application process?

"Crazy Train" got me through.

Dunno if you guys have heard the cover of "Mad World" originally by Tears For Fears but sung by Gary Jewels and featured in the movie Donnie Darko, but I'd seen the movie a few weeks previously to when I got a phone call from my housemate telling me to come home because a fat envelope from USC had just arrived in the mail. Anyway, that song will always remind me of getting into med school because it was playing on the radio as I drove home, and as I heard the song I knew...

you guys are being way too nice.... i think most of us feel like listening to Tupac's "Hit em Up." Imagine saying this to adcoms: "My 44 make sure all your kids won't grow."

Forget love... those are for the waitlists... rejections merit anger in the form of verse.

jou tink jou can tek me? jou need a whole f**kin army jou gonna tek me.

or for those too tired for emotion... go ahead and pop in some Bob.

Nothing like the cool rhythms of Mr. Marley to relax the spirits.

I tried to keep a sense of humor about it all and kept listening to Another Bites the Dust by Queen. Donnie Darko is a great movie by the way.

I downloaded and played "the sun will come out tomorrow" for my roommate . . . she didn't find it too funny though.

Can't by me love by the Beatles always works for me 🙂

Along with that, "Here comes the sun" and "All you need is love" by Beatles 🙂
Unforgettable tunes 😀

Any country music would do. You would immediately feel good about yourself  "My achy ... (breaky?) heart"
Sorry country music fans

I like to play "Toss it up" by 2pac when I get a rejection.

Great song for this would be on Snoop Dogg's album from a few years ago called " Fuk'm"

Boyz II Men " I'm not half the man I used to be "

Oh yeah...

Lyrics to Three Little Birds:

Rise up this morning,
Smiled with the rising sun
Three little birds pitch by my doorstep
Singin' sweet songs of melodies pure and true
Sayin', "This is my message to you-u-u."
Singin'...

"Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause ev'ry little thing gonna be al-right."

Exactly what I was gonna say. A lot of other 2Pac songs would work, like "Picture Me Rolling."

Also, you're right about Bob Marley. "Everything's gonna be alright" can get me through almost anything.

Also, "Burn" by Usher is a recent song that works when your dream school rejects you.

I think that you probably listen to "I'm an A$$hole" - in line with your personality.

I'd say "Get By" by Talib Kweli helped me out a great deal!!!!!!

Let me guess???When 2pac died you jumped on Biggies' bandwagon being that you're a follower and will latch on to anything that comes across your mouth as if you were a newborn.

??? you have some serious issues. 😕 🙄

The McDonald's jingle -
Because that is where I'll be working while I wait to get in.
The most over-educated fry chef in the world.
Watch me slit my wrist with plastic salad fork singing "I'm lovin' it."
🙁

All Good - Mo Thugs. Somehow that song always makes me feel better.

How Blue Can You Get (B.B. King).

But what have you all put on when you get that elusive acceptance? Gotta have a song for your victory dance...

Back in Black was mine (AC/DC) but in retrospect it should have been Mama Said Knock You Out (LL).

Don't call it a comeback...

"Vienna" by Billy Joel is great.

So is the Matchbox 20 song that says, "Sometimes you can lose even if you really try." Actually all of their More Than You Think You Are album is great. 🙂

rejection=nina simone..if you've never heard her stuff, go out of your way to...i listen to "feeling good"...makes me feel better....

acceptance:"tipsy" jakwon
waitlist: "I'll be watching you" Sting (police)
rejection: "my neck, my back" Khia

hmmm... another good one!

"Hakuna Matata" by Timon and Pumba!
