You can change it, you have to go to the advanced options once you choose edit. And I also vote for "where we be going"

I can't say I'm not jealous that you guys have made your final decisions. But isn't it a little early to make final calls and start withdrawing without getting financial aid decisions?

Unlike you, they are doing it for the sincere love they have for medicine and their future patients. Financial aid , a big concern for you, plays little or no factor in where they go.

When you do something with heart, work extra - hard for something you are passionate about, and if parental influence and egocentricity plays no part, decision comes peacefully.

I understand you deserve every financial aid you get, but we both (you and all sdners) know you are not doing it for your future patients. If that is what gives you satisfaction, i wish you goodluck.

You obviously have a bone to pick with Humble, which may or may not be legitimate. But your argument that if you're going into medicine for the right reasons you should have no trouble picking a school is just weak.

i haven't posted on SDN in a while, but i have to say WOW. That was totally uncalled for. How can you judge someone's "sincere love for medicine and their future patients" based on a couple of posts that they made on a public forum?!?

Um, seriously. I don't think looking out for one's self financially is mutually exclusive with caring for future patients. I think some self-interest is allowed, given that it will be you, and not really your patients, paying back those loans. I wouldn't want a doctor that was reckless with money, anyways, because who knows what else they let slide by?

PS wow this thread got hijacked quickly

Humble has been catching a lot of flack lately for having to decide between several of the best schools in the country. He's well within his right to take his time, and given his options, I'd be waiting for financial aid offers to help in the decision process too.

I think that the main reason that people have made their decisions by now either has to do with only being accepted to one school or preferring a state school with an acceptance in hand.

I know a lot of names to add to this list, but it wouldn't be appropriate for me to do so without their permission. I recommend asking people in person or looking through the 2011 class threads over in allo.

Wow. So out of left field. This is un-instigated attack number 2. Is it the owl that is driving you into a blind rage?

Unlike some folks, I'm not going to have medical school funded my mommy and daddy. The reason why finances will play an important part is because I don't want to be facing such a mountain of debt that I'm steered away from specialties simply because of the money (family med, peds), or that after I'm done with residency I'm not able to jump into practicing where I want for need of paying off loans (disallowing doctors withou borders, etc.). If people care about their patients, financial aid should play a part (they're who will be paying for your education). I can't stand these hedonists who say that their med school choice is purely on "gut-feeling" or "happinness" and that's worth an extra 100 grand. That's downright delusional, or a sign they have no concept of money. And btw, where did you come from all of a sudden, and why the attacks? Also, are you even a pre-med? Have you even been accepted anywhere? I don't think your in a position to speak for me or the entire SDN community as you just attempted. You seem to have an angry vehemence I haven't seen in a long while. Now go run along and study orgo..

Where does the sense of entitlement come from in the barrage of attacks on Humble? Is it because the schools being considered are top notch? Would this be an issue if he was choosing between three bottom of the barrel schools?

The righteousness needs to go... I for one, will likely be going to my state school if I get in because its cheaper and I want to go primary care. Does that make me a bad person for holding on to acceptances at private schools until I find out if I can stay IS?
