Hola friends,

Long story short: Took the MCAT in late 2018 and got a 503 (127/123/125/128) and re-took it this past April and got a 506 (126/127/124/129).
I'm a ORM from upstate NY, attended a small liberal arts college, cGPA of 3.74, AMCAS sGPA of 3.53, AACOMAS sGPA of 3.62, solid clinical experience (over 1000 across volunteering/medical assistant) and community service (also over 1000), multiple years of leadership, shadowing (110 across 4 doctors), a year and a half of research experience, and great letters - including one from a DO I shadowed.

I'm applying right now for Fall 2020 matriculation and definitely going all in on DOs. Which school should I be applying to? I'm open to going anywhere that isn't gonna hinder me in a major way (aka Carribean).

TIA

TCOM, DMU, KCU, PCOM to get you started.
NY programs (don’t remember the name)

There are a couple awesome state funded DO schools I don’t remember off the top of my head.
UNE if you don’t mind mandatory attendance
LECOM if you go Erie or Seton

Thank you @Goro!

I saw your other post about excluding schools like LUCOM, LMUCOM, Nova, TouroNY, and WM Carey, but I was wondering: how come you left often-cited DO schools like MSUCOM, UNECOM, and RVU off your list of suggestions? Also, is it better to apply to all these schools (about 20) at once or stagger them through the longer cycle? I am applying to DO almost exclusively.

MSUCOM? Read up on Larry Nasser and you decide.

UNECOM: apply if you're from the NorthEast. Or consider PacNW if you're from that region.

RVU, never been impressed with their match lists and their for profit status, although the latter is not a deal breaker for me. Their being owned by the criminals who run SGU might be.

I warn you that TCOM may be a donation.

We accept a little over 90% of our class from inside Texas. For EY2019, I am told the lowest MCAT accepted from OOS is 506, with an average of 512.

Furthermore, the average stats of the incoming class - including the less-scrutinized IS students - is in the realm of 3.7cGPA and 508MCAT.

Of course, consider that waitlist movement is not yet over - we have about two weeks left - but this is likely close-to-final.

Not that I think the chances of OP are zero, obviously someone from OOS got that 506 and got in, but they are certainly vanishing.
