Hey there! If you go with an iPad pro from a few years back, like 2017 or 2018, you can likely get it for the cost of a new air. Amazon has a lot of "renewed" things (refurbished) including some pretty sweet deals. Pro is probably worth it if you want to take notes
My 2012 MBP worked well until the hinge broke. Never had any functionality problems. I have the 2018 Air and it’s really nice too. Stuff lasts forever2020 pro
if you take care of it, it could last maybe 6-7 years (seriously, my MacBook from 2008 still works well)
I see it as worth the extra cost for the pro, so that I can have the highest quality over close to a decade of my life, esp knowing that the extra cost you paid will be distributed over such a long period of time that it’s sort of marginal
I really don't think so. Most of med school is Anki or reading slides. I haven't used a tablet for med school onceFollowing this topic. If you already have a decent Macbook pro would the mini be useful to have with it for portability?
Awesome advice. Thanks. Though note that apple pencil 2 is only compatible with Pro.Hey there!
I had a 6th generation ipad and the first gen Apple Pencil in undergrad. Loved it so much. Had my best gpa year during the year I used it (senior year only). With that said, you really can’t go wrong Bc whatever you get will help you organize even more than you realize. I worked a lot during my gap year, so I decided to splurge and upgrade to the IPad Pro and 2nd gen Apple Pencil. Incoming ms1, so haven’t gotten to use it in class yet, but it is honestly almost overwhelmingly big, but I also got the 12.9” Version. I’m not familiar with the IPad Air, but my personal advice would be to get just a normal sized iPad. That way you can splurge a bit more on more memory and get a keyboard. I also recommend the Apple Pencil 2, it’s like a $25 increase in price, but I can actually tell a difference between it and the 1st gen, 2nd gen is more smooth it feels like. Whatever you do, use the note-taking app NOTABILITY. It’s incredible. Good luck! Let me know if there’s anything else I can answer.
